Ah, and this is the clamp comparison:
    (original - crap
    bonty - cool
repair kit - cool b/o color;))

Please do yourself a favour and take a good look at this clamping unit - it is well scary and dangerous on a hc bike:/

SORRY FOR THE OT but this is one scary item

Five months ago I was the very first person in Australia to lay down a deposit for a Nomad Mk 2. This is only the second large frame to be built up here, the first was
the importer's as his personal ride.

All the previos Nomads up to 08 are just refinements of the original design. The 09 (mark 2) version has been redesigned from the ground up.

This bike belongs to my internet-handicapped buddy. Size med, 29.75lbs. It's a pretty light bike considering the build. It has a complete XT build, Talas RC2, Hope Pro II with Stan's Flow rims. It would be really easy to take another lb off this rig!

I wonder how will the XL look like. It is soo frustrating to see all those PC running when you've ordered your ano:/ Friend of mine just received a confirmation his red pc is ready for pickup:/
At least there is no ano anywhere in the world;)

Is that a painted frame thats been stripped and polished. If so how much work was needed. I'm liking that finish.

Hot on your heels other aardvark, am putting a nomad build together here in Canada and then hauling it back to Oz at the end of the winter here!

Hello everyone, this is my first post on here but I thought I would show you all my 09 Nomad.

Got the bike at the start of October (first one in the UK) and these pics were taken as the build was finished. I've subsequently changed the seat for a white Charge Spoon and ridden the bike a lot. Loving it.

Very, very pleased with the bike

    Hey up Carrot,

Cheers. I'm in South Yorkshire so mainly ride in the Peaks and Wharncliffe but do get to Wales from time to time and will be heading to Scotland soon.

Also looking at racing some downhills this year.

Awesome. I'm just across the Penines from you then. There's a couple of new developments near me that I need to ride this year, I'm a bit out of practice!

Apart from a few minor personal tweaks, that bike's pretty much how I'd build up mine if I could afford one  Looks fantastic :D

    Hozemyster
Cheers for that Matt, if you dont mind me asking what height are you? iam sweating a wee bit coz i ordered the med, I am 5' 10 and based my desicion on my old FSR stumpy med size which is actually slightly smaller top tube length than the cruz. Have weighed your build yet?
  • 01-06-2009
    matthew_h
Carrot, that's cool. Might see you in the Peaks one day.

Hozemyster, I'm 6'4" but like my bikes a little on the small and short side as I use them for XC and DH and all sorts in between so I went for the large rather than the XL. I reckon you'll probably be spot on with the medium by the sound of it.
  • 01-06-2009

Thats cool Matt, thanks for reply, if your ever up the 7 stanes and see a Nomad looking pretty much like yours... its prob me. Goodtimes Dude

It's the standard red powdercoat. I'm stoked at how nice it turned out, although it's definitely the wrong color if you don't want to attract any attention! :D

Great looking bikes, all. This has probably been covered elsewhere, so apologies if I missed it, but have any of you owned the first generation Nomad, too? Can you give your impressions on the differences in the bike's handling, fit, capabilities, etc? Thanks.

Hey Other Aardvark, notice you went the white powder coat. I am split between the white powder coat and the slate anodised (an extra $180Ca). Am told the anodised is a lot more hardy. Any reason you went the white pc vs anodised other than looks?? I would prefer to go the white as my componentry will match (bit of a bling factor there). Thanks

White was because I couldn't get ano slate. Out of the available powder coats red would of been my first choose but the importer nabbed that one for himself. So white it is.

What build will you be running???
