    This guy has a set of red Opium rims laced to a 135mm hub. Again, contact CB as I'm pretty sure you can custom build wheelsets (ie: iodine rims on 150mm, Opium rims on 135mm, etc...). You can also try contacting the guy in the link.

    Overhauled my Nomad this past year:

    - new front triangle [went from XL to L]
    - painted rear triangle to match [sort of!]
    - Velocity P35 rims + Hope Pro II hubs
    - Conti Trail King 2.4" setup tubeless
    - Shimano Zee 10spd with 11-36 cassette + new SRAM chain
    - fresh RaceFace 32T ring + MRP GS SL guide
    - Kona Wah Wah pedals
    - Selle Anatomica saddle
    - Spank bars
    - had Avalanche tune my Fox DHX Air 5.0
    - installed SC Pro Pack in VPP



    My bike feels new! :thumbsup:

    We pimped out my GF's Nomad as well - mostly the Velocity P35 rims on her stock hubs + Conti Trail King tires in 2.4".... :thumbsup:

    I installed the eThirteen TRS dual chain guide on my Nomad. Whenever I am in the large chainring and a lower gear in the rear and back peddle the chain will want to slide over on the pulley wheel, then drop to the smaller chain ring. How can I stop this, it's quite annoying? I have the pulley as far forward as it can be slid (32 tooth chain ring) and I have the chain guide rotated as far clockwise. Any thoughts?

    I'm planning to use a TALAS RC2 180 mm. Will this be a huge improvement with my Float 36 160 mm??? Or can I get 180 float instead? any feedback for those who have tried it is much appreciated...

    No it wont be a huge improvement ( or even a improvement),Talas is know for having more stiction than a Float,you wil gain in travel but loose in front tire grip and spolied your geometry.Keep your money and spend it elsewhere.

    I'm not sure how you are using your bike but I am acutally lowering my fork on my nomad tonight from 170mm to 160mm to actually have a steeper headangle because I have been having a fair amount of front tire slip. if you have to climb alot of your rides don't make the front end of your bike too tall or slack. it will really kill your climbing performance.

    If memory serves me correct, the HA with a 160mm Float and a CC XXII bottom cup (stack of about 10-12mm) is 66.5*. I'm running an Angleset to slack it out by a degree and its at 65.4*. I'm really not noticing much hindrance when it comes to climbing but it feels amazing on the descents.

    will try it out, i have a cane creek angle set lying around, still haven't got the chance to swap it out. I'll start with 1 degree then check if there is any noticeable change...

    In my opinion, -1 Angleset is pretty much a must for Nomad. The default 67 HA is outdated for a bike in this category and makes the bike feel like xc/trail bike. Angleset makes it like a modern AM/Enduro bike, and is much more confidence inspiring on downhills.

    bought and built this nomad in january. finally got to ride it as the snow has melted. Let me tell you the CCDB air is awesome. Wish i could afford one for my other bike. KS LEV on the way

    I can't believe there haven't been any new posts in this thread since 2013!! :eekster::skep:

    We've got 2 Nomad Mk2's in the garage that are still going strong in the PNW as our winter bikes. :thumbsup:

    I just pulled out my Nomad and I'm swapping in some fresh parts to get it ready for the wet winter season.

    - new SLX brakes
    - upgrading rotors to 203/180 from 185/160
    - new SLX rear dérailleur
    - new chain
    - new Conti Trail King 2.4" rear tire
    - servicing suspension at both ends

    I keep telling myself that when I wear this bike out I can have a new ride, but I can't seem to kill it. All the main components are going strong since I bought it in 2009. It's still quiet and no issues with the suspension at all.



    I need to inspect the GF's Nomad and see what it needs before winter riding starts.

    Soi far I know I need to:

    - service the suspension at both ends
    - new Conti TK 2.4" rear tire
    - new brake pads
    - check chain wear and maybe replace

    Who is still riding the MK2 Nomad? Post up something and let's keep this thread alive. :p

    Updated to 11 speed recently and M8000 brakes on the way as I'm planning to do the epic trail in Mt Buller, Australia in November. So I figured some component refresh would be good.

    So little Nomad Mk2 love on MTBR these days. :(

    I busted my Nomad out as it's winter here in the BC version of the PNWet. Decided to add a bit of fender action to keep my butt dry and protect the expensive bits of the bike from the constant stream of gritty water and mud that is our local trail riding for the next 5 months.

    I agree... mostly are rocking the latest Nomads... still rocking mine...Went COIL front and back... might install a PUSH linkage soon... still in the fence though...

    I've got a Pivot Mach 6 as my summer bike and ride the Nomad in the winter. I got my rear shocked tuned by Avalanche and it's 1000% better. :thumbsup:

    My only real compliant with the bike is that it's heavy compared to the new carbon wonder bike. I get tempted to tear it down and rebuild it with bling parts, but then I get cheap and figure heavy is better in the winter for training purposes and really do I want to trash a fancy bike in our PNWet slop-fest? :eekster::confused:

    You've got a nice looking rig there. :cool:

    Here's mine, 2011 Nomad 2 Carbon, all coil at 31.5 lbs still rides great though the Bronson 2 looks very nice and could easily figure in future plans.

    Got out for a nice late afternoon ride yesterday. Rode until it was getting hard to see in the forest without lights and then cruised back to my car. :)



    Nomad Mk2 is such an amazing bike. Buying it was one of the best decisions I've made in my riding career and one a smiles/$$ basis it is way out in front of any other bike I have owned. :thumbsup:

    My buddy upgraded to a new bike and gave his Nomad Mk2 to his son...a year later he's on pinkbike looking to buy a used one for himself as he really misses it. :cool:
