So I just got my medium anodized skidmark frame from UPS. From reading the older posts, it seems like at one point the frames came with the BB and head tube already faced? The frame I got still got paint on both the BB and the head tube so I guess they've stopped doing that? Question is, should I go and get the BB and the head tube faced since I'm probably going to take it to the shop to get the bearing cups pressed in anyway.

Yes, everything will line up correctly after being done. This is particularly important for your bottom bracket.

How can you tell if a frame has been faced after assembly? (noob question!)

I don't think you can. With the headset, you probably won't be able to tell unless you remove the bearing cups. With the Bottom bracket you will need to remove the bearing to tell.

I just called a local bike shop and the guy I talked to said that generally speaking, the newer frames are good enough quality that they don't bother facing the head tube or BB if external bearings are being used. Interesting. Should I listen to their advice or take my frame some where else? They charge $40 to install the headset. It'll cost extra if I wanted to get the headtube faced.

I would always have a bottom bracket shell faced on a new frame. Especially if using a hollowtech bottom bracket style setup.

I just got mine 10 days ago and have 6 rides in on it. I love it. I had an Intense 5.5 that I really tried to like, but its nowhere as good as this bike. This is one of those great Chainlove buys.

    Build is as follows:
    Formula K24 Oro's
    DT swiss 240/Mavic 717
Schwalbe Nobby Nic 2.4's or Albert 2.25 depending on where I am riding
    Stan's NoTubes
Race Face Dues BB and Cranks
    Candy Pedals
Salsa Stiff Upper Lip 80mm stem
King hdst + a 5mm base plate spacer to slacken the head angle
    Flite Gel Saddle
    Easton Post
    Carbon bar
    Talas 140
    SRAM Rocket 9spd shifters
    XT shadow derailleurs
Narrow is the path to life, few are those who find it.

Man, WTF?!? Where the heck is MY raw frame?! I was told LAST weekend while out of town that SC shipped it and it would be waiting when I got back. STILL no word!

Well, at least now I know what mine will look like (and it looks great!)

How do you find the Straitline levers Maxwolfie ?
They make much of a difference or was it more of a bling factor thing ?

    Nice bike btw

Definately make a big difference. I come from a bit of a DH background, where I got used to the levers. I don't think I could go back now, they make an incredible amount of difference in terms of having confidence in only your index fingers - They don't move around at all.

    Skidmark

The anodized Skidmark color seems to change colors in different lighting. I took this picture on the summit of yesterday's ride.

I ordered the same frame in Skidmark color this week and should be getting it early next week. Originally I was not very interested on the color, but after seeing this very balanced color scheme on your bike I fell for it.

What color is the headset on the frame? I assume it is this Brown CK:

    Am I right?

Yeah it's the brown CK. I also have CK brown hubs. I think the whole thing looks good. Originally wasn't crazy about the skidmark color but the price was right. After the frame arrived I fell in love with the color seeing it in person!
