    I just reinstalled and remeasured everything on a super flat surface, without the offset bushing I had a BB height of 13 5/8". With the offset bushing I have a BB height of 13 1/2". So it seems 1/8" drop per bushing, so total you could get 1/4". 10mm drop seems pretty optimistic?

    I use this imperfect method of calculating BB drop: Using two reducers of 1.8mm offset shortens your eye to eye measurement by 3.6mm. Multiply that by the frame's overall leverage ratio (2.2:1) and the geometry change would the the same as compressing the suspension by 8mm.

    Anybody running a 650b fork on their BLT? Looking at some forks locally and figured it might be worthwhile to entertain this option... I can't seem to find the crown to axle measurements on the FOX forks, but I assume it would be a bit longer, may need to shim the fork travel down 10mm. Any other disadvantages? Figured this would be a good option to future proof the ride (if I decide to go 650b now or later)..

    Yep, I am... here's a picture of my Blur from a few weeks ago. I just put new tires on it with a Trail Taker 2.4" on the front and an Ardent EVO 2.25" on the rear, and it's great. I haven't ever had an issue with the fork or shock bottoming out, so no shimming necessary in my case. I have a Fox Float 32 150 FIT RLC on the front.

    So for those of you with the offset bushings...what is the verdict on the hta change? Does the st angle adversely effect climbing/comfort? Im not as concerned in the bb drop, but a little might b nice.

    Curious about the aluminum LT2s - From the latest VPLS sales, I've seen two different stickers on the LT2.2s (aluminum, 135qr rear, tapered headtube) - one is the diagonal print, the other straight...

    Anyone else notice this?

    Wasnt the sales only the LT2.3? 142 bolt through rear axle? I'll put some pics up of mine in a second.

    Blur LT2.3 alu in harbour grey, upgrade from the Heckler...

    X9 and XT, Rockshox Pike Coil 426, Truvativ bars, steam + seatpost. Formula Oro Bianco brakes on 180mm.

    As time goes on i'll replace some of this stuff with lighter components. Weighs in @ 31 lbs

    Really happy with the ride quality! I'm going to cut the steerer down too once i've tried it at various heights.

    I ran an HD front and NN rear combo for a while and it was superb. I ride exclusively dry, loose over hard terrain and started getting really familiar with the pair. The HD grips like high-end escort while the NN "holds on" like cheap hooker. I came to appreciate the NN, as the breaking point was very predictable and I was really starting to enjoy throwing the bike around. The downside is that I got less then 200 miles out of the NN before it basically disintegrated. I've heard of guys getting only a single day out of a Schwalbe tire out in Moab, and for that reason I'll never run a Schwalbe as a rear tire again.

    That same HD has a few hundred miles on it and is still running great, with plenty of tread. One thing is clear though . . . there is ZERO possibility that I'd ever run a NN as a front tire. None.

    An alternative which I am likely to try, is to run the HD front with a Specialized Ground Control in the read. Same tread design as the NN, with a firmer compound.

    The HD I have is the gravity version, so it's a bit heavier than the regular Trailstar version. It tracks very well and the sidewall is pretty tough. I have no problem running it at 24psi. I would NEVER run a NN in the front again, at least not the 2.25. I had a UST version and even with low psi it wasn't in the same ballpark as the HD in terms of traction.

    I've also run the NN in the rear before. I thought it was ok. It has pretty good traction, but the sidewall is a little bit weak for a UST tire. A number of times I felt that it wanted to roll off the rim when landing from a few feet high. I'm running a Bontrager XR4 now (older version) and I like it a lot.

    I still run the HD/NN combo on my trail bike and I think it is a decent setup for So Cal's loose/hard pack terrains.

    When the tires wear out, however, I will try HD trailstar (non gravity) + XR4 (new version) combo.

    I had a 2008 Lapierre Zesty 514 that served me well, but after 5 years of hard riding it had several dents in the frame, one of which appeared to be developing some stress cracks. After days of scouring the 'net, I found a 2nd hand Blur LT frame that I bought for a reasonable price. As it turns out, it's nearly new and as a result, I have a beautiful new (for me) Blur LT. It has a QR back-end and a straight steerer tube and while that's not optimal relative to current standards, it did allow a straight swap of parts from the Zesty onto the Blur. Not that I did that - I purchased a new fork to complement the frame of course. It's hard to find a fork with a straight steerer these days!

    The forecast was looking good after several days (weeks?) of rain so I set out yesterday morning with my newly built Blur. I did a familiar loop that includes some flowy mountain singletrack and a couple of horrowshow, rocky descents, one of which was currently serving as a riverbed. My initial impressions, which might be biased by my wanting to like this bike, is that I like this bike. I really like this bike.

    Compared to the Zesty, it feels like it climbs better. That is, the rear wheel stays stuck to the ground more and there is visibly less pedal bob. It also feels like a better descender but I can't discount the effect of the new fork. I was blasting through the rock gardens and the bike felt stable and reassuring. It felt like I could roll over anything and I went looking for harder lines than I might otherwise. The Blur is more nimble than the Zesty, it's easier to manual (shorter chain stays?) and it feels lighter although I didn't think that the Zesty was more than 13.5 kg. I hate to use this word but I am stoked!

    I was planning on buying a Solo or Bronson in 2014 but I am so pleased with the Blur that I think that the new bike purchase may be delayed by a year or two.

    i'll be interested to hear back if it works as a well as a bike that was designed from the factory as a 650 b. I think it would perform just as well as say a bronson.

    28T with a 42 in the back? Wow. I am running a 30T with a 36 in the back and thinking about going to a 32T because in the 36 I can't get enough torque. What kind of hills are you riding that on?

    Just trying to match the 22/36 ratio on my 2x10. The current 28/36 is a bit tall on those long climbs even though I could still make it without knee pain afterwards. When the 42 comes, I may try a 30t.

    My blur has a coil fork. I have ridden coil over air for years, coils are smoother in my opinion. I have air on the rear, that seems to be ok.

    Can't help with the Float X, but as I posted on the owners thread, I just put a ccdb air on my LTc and so far it's been a surreal improvement in bump compliance (square edged or otherwise), overall traction, and even pop on jumps. The possible short coming is the lack of a lock out for climbing, but not a big deal for me (and they do have a climbing switch option now). Assuming it doesn't spontaneously catch on fire anytime soon, its easily the best suspension investment I've ever made. I only mention it in reference to the Float X because I don't think there is much difference in cost between the two - although I have heard positive reviews of the Float X.

    RoRode a Blur LT2 with 140mm Fox fork and 650B front wheel in Colorado for a week. Since the frame is designed for 150mm-160mm fork, the bike geometry was essentially stock. One of the best handling bikes Ive ridden. The only thing keeping me from owning one is having to carry two tubes. Dumb reason huh?

    Maybe for you, but I couldn't get the 650B tire to mate with the rim because the tube stretcehd so tight. Have you actually done it?

    Pump up the tube a little bit before putting it in the tire, this gets it to expand a little and is easier to get it on. I didn't have an issue putting a 26" tube in 650b using this method.

    A question, if I may. Apologies if this is not the right place.

    Iím faced with either replacing pretty much everything on my LT2 except the frame or upgrading to a 5010 or Bronson. Would you still build up an LT2 (2009) with new, high quality (expensive) parts or are the new SC bikes, with the new geometry and bigger wheels, so much better that spending that amount on an LT2 would be a silly thing to do?

    Opinions appreciated.

    I think replacing everything with high end components would be cheaper than buying the 5010 or bronson with high end components. my buddy just spent 7k on his bronson c. That aside i think you need to ask yourself what you like to do. if climbing hills faster isn't your game and you are more of a downhill ripper then stay with the 26. If you want to get up the hills a little easier and rail the downhills pretty quick as well then move to the 5010 or bronson. i've ridden a full bronson c with enve's and it moves up the hill a little better then my blur lt2 but downhill at my skill level they are about equal.

    Thanks gexas. A bit surprised but delighted to hear that the BLT2 is as quick downhill as the Bronson for you. Reading all of the hype about the new bikes it's easy to think my old faithful BLT2 would be miles behind whoever was riding it!

    You will probably find limited options for fork upgrade on the 2009 LT2, that had a straight 1-1/8 headtube. I would upgrade the frame if I were you, or get a nice drivetrain and parts that could be moved over to another frame later.

    You're correct about the headtube and the lack of forks. I think I will stick with my frame for now as I can still get some Revelation RCT3s with 1-1/8 steerer but if I break those in a year or two I could be in trouble. As you say, I can swap the other stuff over to a new frame then. Thanks for posting.

    Has anyone tried the new Monarch RT3 or RC3+ Debonair shocks on the LT2? I am interested in getting one but I am concerned that the stock compression tune (M) might not suit the LT2, which normally comes with a L tune, if I'm not mistaken.

    i PMed you. I have a used RS Revelation Dual Air 426 with 1 1/8 steerer if youre interested.
