Heckler stem lenght for light FR

I currently have a 100mm stem on my large Heckler for trail riding. At 6' tall it's a nice for trail riding. It's already what I feel is a nice compact cockpit and don't want to go to small.

I went to a local ski area to ride and feel the need for a shorter stem. What length should I be looking for to be able to DH and lift the front easier without making the cockpit too small to ride. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Thanks

You being the same height was good to here you go that short on your stem and still feel good, thanks. I didn't think I could go that short, but the shorter the better I say.

What brand stem do you have that is 55mm?

I do have wide carbon monkeylites. I might swap bars to more FR bars I have laying around for the days I go FR or DH.

I would pick up a 70mm stem. That is what I have on mine and I do not think it is too short. I am 6ft also and on a large. My stem is a Thomson if you want to know.

I'm thinking about 60mm to 70mm, somewhere between trail riding(100mm) and full blown FR/DH (40mm).

Nice, I'm not looking in spending allot for something I will only use every once in a while.

    I'm looking at this one for $20., it's 70mm

Plus I need a few other things that they have at a good price (tire and chain tensioner).

Do you guys think 70mm will be short enough, being 1" shorter that my current stem.

I think I have a 70mm FSA (1.5) on my Gemini and have no problem getting the front end up. The Gemini has a slightly longer TT (around 1/2" I think)
