Got a 2007 Enduro SL, and it's a great bike but thinking about replacing it. Have an XC bike (Epic EVO) already.
Heckler? Solo? Bronson?
Clueless on SC bike characteristics as Specialized is all I have owned, but I have read a lot about them.
First and foremost, welcome . . . I have a particular affinity for those leaving the Specialized camp to join us. C'mon over . . . drink the Kool-Aid.
How happy are you with the Enduro? What works? What doesn't?
The Bronson is their top-tier AM bike, no doubt but the Heckler is a well-proven design that just got a refresh; also a great bike.
The Solo is more trail oriented . . . shorter travel, lower BB.
If you ride smooth and fast and keep the rubber within 3' of the ground --> Solo.
If you ride chunk and tech and like to soar --> Bronson/Heckler would be my choice; Bronson in particular if you race.
They are ALL great bikes, and IMO, far superior to a 2007 Enduro.
Alcohol may lead nowhere, but it sure is the scenic route!
What I like:
Enduro is stiff up front with that 25mm through axle and triple crown fork. It's a little overkill, but a blast. Point it where you want it and that's it. A lot of complaints about that e150 fork, but mine has been solid. Angles make it comfy for all day epic rides.
What I don't like:
Small bump compliance on the shock sucks. Thought about just replacing the shock, but it's possibly not the best solution. It's heavy in all the wrong places even though it's a 31 lb. AM bike with 6" of travel.
It was my first modern mountain bike coming off of my '94 Bontrager. Riding my Epic EVO mostly right now and looking for a good complimentary bike to replace the Enduro.
