White! I don't think I've ever seen a white bullit. I think it would look stellar and it would definitely be different.

    The best Bullit color is?.....

I'd like to see a bright orange paint color for the Bullit. Mine is black. My fellow riders all have different colors. That's the only way to tell our rides apart! Of course, they all look like blurs as they pass, so it probably doesn't matter what color they are.....

    Black is not a color; It's a shade. 8^)

You do realize that the water and mud weigh more than a paint job,
    right.
How come your bike pics do seem to always involve water? Is that
    a "shore" thing?

I forgot to add the to the post above.

This is the ride write up for the pic.

It was a dark & stormy night...

The "Shore" is a temperate rain forest, so riding here tends to involve water, sometimes in the form of beer.

Edit: Hey pfft, post a pic of your new Heckler.

    dis is all ize got

xmas morning minus a week so I could get it built up for
Arizona. Not at all sure about the 5th coil. Rode it a few
times and then swapped it for a tried n true vanilla rc. I'll
play with the 5th when I get back but I have had less than
good luck with Progressive mobike shocks (though VERY
GOOD customer service on same, but I'd rather not have
    to use customer service....)
I tried an 03 Manitou firefly on it and REALLY liked the fork
but it is too long for my riding style, several times the wheel
was in the air instead of guiding the front of the bike up the
chute I was trying to climb. Prob'ly not more than 15mm longer
than the vanilla rlc but enough to go from perfect to not so.
The firelfly and the 5th are on the gemini now, officially my
    "big bike"
I wish the rlc was as plush and quiet as the firefly, but that
would mean we didn't have to keep trying new stuff in search
    of the perfect ride.
I feel like a dweeb having sold an official 4-bar for an old fashion
single pivot, but I really like 'em for my (old and slow) riding style.

I've had good luck with my coil 5th (and I had one of the very early models) the only service I've had on mine is the annual oil change when I sent it in while I was on vacation riding my xc bike.

Try the recommended settings from Santa Cruz on your Heckler. They were very close to what I like to run.

I have limited time on Fox forks, and even less on a Manitou Minute.

    White Bikes Rule!

I just got a white Bullit. It weighs 33 lbs. It climbs great and descends even better! Although I'm only running a Psylo (5 inch travel), It can take some pretty good drops and gnarly chutes (Sherman Slider is on my shopping list)

Mine's only 1/2 red. So I guess it climbs 1/2 as good as an all red bike.

Everyone knows that Scuba Yellow is the best color! Look how fast it looks, and it's still on the trainer. This is my first time back in the saddle after tearing my MCL and dislocating my elbow on a Boxing day ride. I know, I know, I should be wearing a helmet.

... and if we just ...

Yup, it's pretty funny looking compared to the 2.8 on the front. This is as close to a roadie as I'll ever get!

Seriously though, I love the yellow, looks great on my wife's Heckler too!

Scuba Yellow! The least popular colour of course!

Here is my 2003 Scuba Yellow Bullit. This seems to be the colour that gets slammed the most on the web. I like it ok and considering the deal I got on the frame I really would have taken any colour. I am considering a new powder coat job and changing the color. Out of all the colors I've seen I think the Root Beer is my least favorite.

It's a lot stiffer for sure. This combo should last a long time. I did have problems with almost all of the allen bolts not being quite long enough. Very odd, but I replaced them with longer ones and now it's a sweet setup.

At first I thought it was the ugliest car around other than the Pontiac Astec of course.
Will your bullit fit in the back standing up or do you need to take off the wheels?

Would you have to lay the bike down to carry more than one bike?

I fit two bikes in standing up with the wheels on. The rear seats are folded up to the sides. I've carried 3 bikes, if you take the rear seats out. Folding the seats up to the sides takes about 30 seconds. Removing the seats takes a couple of minutes. The roof is plenty high enough for any DH bike, the only thing is, when you load your bike from the rear, you have to lean the bike over to clear the lip on the rear. But you can always load from the side doors because of the clamshell way the they open.

No SUV can do what an Element does. Only Vans or trucks can carry bikes like an Element. With dark tint, no one can even tell that there's bikes inside.

With the tailgate cabana option, camping is sweeet! You can fit a queen size Futon back there. By the way, I think they look super cool,,,,,,,,,,,,

    bullit vs heckler

to start things off I have an epic and I'm looking for a second bike that is much beefier. I want to bomb down stairs, jump off ledges, and do some northshore style riding at challenge park in joliet, IL http://www.challengepark.com/gallery_mountain.asp

I'm not a computer whiz so copy and paste if your intersted.

anyways...used bullit or heckler, light freeriding tho, I'm just getting into it. also I would be buying the bike used...if anyone wants to part with one.

...I have a Bullit that I might be willing to sell, along w/a Boxxer Race fork. I bought the Bullit last year and then pre ordered the VP Free. Now that I have it I'm building the VP Free up and selling the Bullit. Large Trans Blue, 5th Element Shock. Email me if you are interested-I'll send pictures. PattD

    What Bullit colour??

Heres mine, it used to be Gunmetal grey mow its black and grey to match the forks - although the powder coating on my frame must weigh half a pound!! It is perfect for most UK DH tracks, oh and its got a 2.75 stroke shock on it too!!! 7.2 inches of travel anyone???

    Reply to Big Joe Jack

I dont run the Single crown anymore. It was a decent bike with the Psylo, climbed pretty well (hardly any bobbing at all) @ 33lbs, but the downhills werent stellar. Now, that I've upgraded the bike to 7" travel dual crown, the Dh runs are awesome! The bike is really designed for a long travel fork, and it shows.

    Old set-up:
    33lbs
    125mm psylo fork
    XT triple Cranks
Rhyno lite wheels with 2.1 tires
    SRAM shifting
    Hayes Hydro bakes

    Current Set-up:
    40lbs
170mm Boxxer Race (with Black Box Internals)
Race Face North Shore Double chainring/Bashguard
2.5 Maxxis High Roller FRT tire
    2.35 mud mad back tire

    What's your height?

What's your height, mtnbkr4eva? I've the opportunity of getting a used small 03 Bullit at a pretty good price, but I'm 5'8" and I'm wondering if small would be too cramped for me.

I'm 5'6", I like my frames small. Santa Cruz recomends my height for either sm or med. For your height, the recommendation is medium. Unless you like your frames on the small side.......

Yeah, I have run through this post over and over checking out the colors, I love orange and thought that with the polished rear I would have a "one-off Bullit". Oh well, its a "two-offer", Im going to look into the floater soon though and I'll have to check your posts again, if I can find them.

Kristian in Colorado has/had (?) the same colour combo.

I tried to find a pic of his bike with no luck.

I no longer have the orange frame, I replaced the front triangle with a 03 Polished.

Right now it has an '05 flick w/150mm travel. I'll be putting an '05 firefly on it next week to see if I like spv on the front. I believe for '05, all the flicks and fireflies have 110-150mm travel
    cheers

    Like them so far?

how do you like them on your bullit? I have a Marzocchi dc fork, thinking of going with something lighter AND adjustable travel cuz I need to climb up the trails where I live. I'm really more concerned about the headtube angle. Do you find it slack enough to ride comfortably downhill in the 150mm setting?

I'm not Salami, but I have a floating brake on my Bullit and love it. If I hadn't been able to put a floating brake on it, I would have sold the frame and bought something else. As it is I've had 2 Bullit frames now, and my wife has one too.

Tons more info on it in this thread (original frame shown in the pics):

Exactly like Craig said. Well almost, I did sell my Bullit. But it was for geometry related issues.

Actually I am quite nervous as to how the frame that is replacing it is going to compare for braking characteristics. Hopefully if it is not sufficent I will be able to get a floating brake to fit.
