Bullit - how much is it worth?

    ~2005 frame, size XL
    2005 Bomber 66 RC fork
Progressive 5th element rear shock w/titanium spring

Recently had the full frame parts kit from Santa Cruz thrown in (rebuilt pivot, new bearings and hardware/etc)

Recently had entire drivetrain replaced with 2013 parts, mostly SLX but with XT derailleurs (both)

    2011 Easton Havok AM wheelset

The rest can easily be seen in the pictures, it's scratched but no dents or cracks.

I've had it listed for $1500 on CL and a couple interested emails but nobody has actually come to look at it...is my price way out of line or should I try elsewhere, is selling on consignment at a bike shop a good idea?

FWIW, I sold a 2008 Heckler with all new bearings, new rear triangle, updated components, and newer suspension for $1200. Realistically, I'd say your bike is worth somewhere around $800-1000, depending on the last time the fork and shock was serviced, and/or leaks.

Asking price is way too high.
Bullits of that vintage and newer are selling for under $1k.
You've got an 8 year old frame + suspension. Even if it's in good shape, that's old in the current market.
Brakes are old, not much value there.
Wheelset + new drive train are nice, but not worth much on the used market.
Looks like a $600-$800 Bullit to me.
If I wanted to haggle for top dollar, I'd list it at $1,100 and hope someone thinks they'd be getting a deal at $800+.
If I wanted to move it quickly, I'd list it for $900 and hope someone showed up who didn't want to haggle too much.

Yeah, have to agree with the above.....$600-$800 max. The used market on those are just not what they used to be....plus there was a complete redesign.

5th Element shock poses a problem for most, when it goes out, there are no parts to fix it.

I sold my '05 Bullit 4 years ago and was happy to get $900 for it.

I'd take somewhere in the range of 1000 for it, CL has it's own special breed of lowballing idiots so I figured start high?

No way would I take 600 for it, I could part it out for more and sell just the frame for about that I would bet.

Avalanche DH Racing will make that shock better than new.

Agree with you on the price. Not much going for an outdated used 26" bike these days. I think he would be lucky to get $600.

Highly doubt you would get $600 for the frame. Again, it is 9 going on 10 years old. Also, it may have been new in 2004, but it was basically the same frame that went through the redesign in late 2002 when they started spec'ing them with Progressive shocks. At that time SC would go several years without making any changes to a frame and technically didn't have model years. Frame brand new was only $1350.

I have owned 3 Bullits and my wife has owned 2 over the years....so I have a pretty good idea of what they were worth.

Here's an idea of the used market.
You can pick up late model Bullits 2008-2010 with fresh + high end parts for $1k-$1500.
There are always outliers and exceptions, but here's a look old at Bullit asking prices in the marketplace:

You can start by flipping that front rotor, which is mounted backwards.

Remember, you are the one that came in and asked if you were over estimating the value of your bike.

Pretty clear that most of us are pretty spot on with our $6-800 valuation. Sorry it was jot the answer you wanted to hear.....but that's reality.

Flip the front rotor, lower the seatpost way the hell down, and find a 50mm stem. Then you might get $700 cause it will actually look like a park bike. Right now it looks like it's having an identity crisis. And I have an 08' bullit that is built for DH, so I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about.

If you are not in a hurry to sell it drop the price $100 every week or two until it sells.

The fact it hasn't sold means it is priced too high.
    Safe riding,
