    The Bullit Has Been Discontinued.

Thought I would share that. They only have a couple frames left. Get em while you can if you can.

    Hi Justin,
We are really low on Bullit stock, and yes, it will be discontinued.
What size frame were you looking for?
Who is your local Santa Cruz Dealer?

    Thanks, and let me know.

I had a feeling they would drop the bullit, I'm sure the heckler will follow. Personally I feel they should have made app bullits, and app hecklers. The butcher is pretty much an app heckler, it would be great if they would put out a budget 180 app option. The bullit and heckler names are SC classics. I hate to see them go.

Looks like a small red frame and a large bare frame, with a couple of odd color rear swingarms as options, too. Very sad day, as I've been both a Bullit and Heckler owner in the past. That said, I sure would like an APP Bullit.

Part of another email from Scott:

"No plans to discontinue the Heckler at all. We still sell a lot of them.
We still love our single pivot platform, it's just that the sales numbers on
the Bullit model have been declining for a while now. My guess is that most
people are opting for more versatile rides like the Heckler/Butcher/Nomad or
going all-out and getting a full DH bike like the V10 and the Bullit was
    left out in the middle.

Thanks for your interest in Santa Cruz, and let me know if you have any
    other questions.

Shame, the Bullit was the bike that first sparked my interest in Santa Cruz bikes when I saw it flying down some steps in NWD (or was it Kranked?) Search for the Holy Trail!...

Am I the only one? I thought it is about time they do this.

Owned a bullit around 2005, rode it til 2007. Great bike, but almost always inferior to VPP nomad. The only good part was that you dont have to take the links apart.

I am still riding my 2002.5 Bullit and I love it. I am just about finish rebuilding it with some nice new parts and floating brake (modified from Kona DOPE floater parts. The brake caliber floating assembly fits nicely to Bullit without having to modify fixed brake caliber mountings of rear swing arm)
I love the smell of the TF2 chain lube in the morning.

Would like to see a 180mm VP Free 2 Carbon, under 7.5 pounds with an air shock.

That would be the Bees Knees....

Pretty much inevitable that the Bullit is being discontinued, but it had a helluva run, and I'll never part with my 02......

Very true. In '99 I was so shocked to see a 6" travel, beefy bike that was reasonably priced. Being a dirt motor guy, I was disappointed to that point in most of the MTB's as far as travel and strength were concerned. I bought a trans red and polished '99 frame at the end of '99 and was so happy with that bike. I kept it for 10 years and a friend bought and still rides it to this day. I still have an '03 polished. It was a great bike in a great era of MTB'ing.
