    Building a 2012 Carbon Highball, just bought a XX1 in BB30 - Did I screw the pooch?

So I'm finally getting around to building the 2012 Highball Carbon I bought on closeout in February.

I won this auction on E-Bay for an XX1 group, but I just realized it says it's a BB30, and from what I've read, BB30 doesn't work with the Highball.

I haven't bought a bottom bracket yet, I was thinking Chris King.

Am I screwed? Do I need to resell the group I just bought, and get a GXP version?

    It says the crankset is " XX1 BB30 156q 175mm crankset"

This is my first "real" build, so I'm learning by bumping my head....

Yes, I think you are screwed unfortunately. I am aware of adapter cups to make a regular crankset work with bb30 frame, but not the other way around. Good luck.

Thanks... seems like you're right. I'm trying to get him to switch the crank to the GXP. Otherwise, I'll be selling a BB30 group very soon!

If you got a really good deal, why not keep the group, sell just the crank and BB, and buy the one you need?

Would that work with E13 cups or is the spindle length all wrong?

No idea, but you'd want to make sure the diameter is correct as well as the length. Just get the proper crank and bb.

Im just about to start building my Highball Carbon and there was no rear axle ... which ones fit?

Is it a thru axle? theres a nice silver nut already in the one side but didnt want to waste time and effort buying the wrong thing.

Why don't you break out a tape measure and see...or at the very least a camera and show us what you're talking about?

It's threaded ... But wasn't sure if I just buy an ethru and discard the nut end.

So it does look like a 142x12 TA. You can confirm by pulling a tape measure between the dropouts. It should be around 140mm between the stepped down faces of the dropouts.

And, this would be the OE skewer/TA: DT Swiss RWS Thru-bolt 12x142mm Conical Alloy Wheel Skewer from Bike Bling

Shop around, I think you can find it cheaper.
