Is the Heckler out of date?

Is the Heckler out of date?

I was showing a friend Santa Cruz's latest line up yesterday and was drooling over the new range, new rear suspension technology's, new forks etc

Also had a flick through the latest issue of What Mountain Bike, and the latest advances in bike tech.

Kind of makes me want to sell my 2007 Heckler and get something new. What are your thoughts? For those of you who've sold up and moved to pastures new? or regret selling the Heckler? Or still adore the Heckler?

BUMP, updated this thread a little to see what people still think about the Heckler.

It's still more than capable of getting the job done, but there's no doubt stuff has improved and gotten lighter. As to whether that's enough reason to upgrade... totally up to you and your wallet.

    Love my Heckler

I have ridden some newer bikes and they are great. With that said, nothing has impressed me enough to sell the Heckler. I am however seriously considering upgrading my Heckler to 650b.

I have the same problem, 2008 Heckler. I can't make up my mind whether to invest in some good upgrades or just buy a new bike.

If it wasn't for the big wheel revolution, I wouldn't even be considering a new bike
If new bikes spec'd how I want weren't 5K, I wouldn't even be considering upgrading.

2006 had stock X7 shifters & X9 derailleurs. Upgraded to Truvative Nuir cranks & XT 780 rear shifter & derailleur 3x10 and it was transformed so much better. Front shifting was still touchy. Upgraded front shifter & derailleur to XT and it's now solid as a rock shifting. So yes, I totally agree, newer is better for components. But, the rest still rocks and I won't part with it until the bottle opener on rear drop wears out.
