1st Gen V10 Carbon Mysterious Creaking

I had a mysterious creak on my 1st gen V10 carbon, the ones with aluminum rear triangle.

I went through all the usual suspects of the pivots (especially lowers) and the bottom bracket. Still had nothing.

Finally traced it down to the derailluer hanger. They're easily removed and replaceable on these frames. It had gotten dry and crusty in there over 2 years. Just pulled it apart, cleaned it then greased the surfaces where the hanger and frame contact each other, and put some blue loc-tite on the threads for the large (21mm) nut, problem solved.

So, if your V10 has a mysterious creak check that out. Its a very easy operation to perform.

Good tip, thanks! These things can drive us crazy and are tough to chase.
