    156q XX crankset on Tallboy?

Hey fellow Tallboy riders. So I am a little late to the party in switching from 3x9 to 2x10. I'm cheap, and my old M970 XTR cranks and X0 RD and shifters have been flawless but they are starting to age so its time for a change. I am considering a XX 2x10 drivetrain with a 156q crankset, but I have found mixed reviews/opinions if the crank will work on a Tallboy. The FAQ section of the SC website advises to stay away from a 156q on a Tallboy, but I found a thread here where a few posters claimed that it was not a problem to run a 156q crankset with 39/26 chainrings. So the question is, is anyone running 39/26 156q XX cranks on a 2011 TBc? If so, any issues? Thanks for your input.

    156q XX crankset on Tallboy?

I had the 156q SRAM XX crankset on my medium Tallboy C.

The bike would shift smooth and just fine, then all of a sudden HORRIBLE chain suck would happen when shifting from the small to big chainring. The chain would freeze up between the lower chain stay/chain suck plate. On two occasions, the rear wheel had to be removed on the trail to free up the chain.

A SRAM X0 crank replaced the XX, resulting in zero shifting issues.

My advice would be stay away from the Tallboy C and the q156 XX crank

The aluminum TB is rated for the 156q cranks.

tennessee17, thanks for the advice. I was leaning toward staying away from 156q, and your comments confirm it. I'm thinking a 168q XX1 system might suit my needs just fine anyway.
