New question here. Spearfish + XX1

Just curious if anyone has converted their Spearfish to XX1. How did it work? Any problems so far? Seriously considering making my Spearfish 2 XX1.
    Thanks in advance, Jesse

I have had XX1 on my Spearfish 1 for 2+ months and it has worked perfectly. Surprised how much better it shifts then the XX it replaced. I'm using a Wolf Tooth Components chainring on XTR 985 Race crankset with zero chain drops.

So you're not using the XX1 crankset? I was curious about the Q-Factor.

I've been running (168q) XX1 on my Spearfish for just over 1000 miles, with no issues at all. I personally don't notice any shifting difference from the XO drivetrain I had last year.

Great set-up, thanks. Do you know if the 156Q would work? Also, does the hub require an upgrade as well?

Not a fan of Truvativ cranks plus I wanted 172.5. Q factor for the XTR 985 Race is 161-163 and fits well.

Dont know if the 156Q will work. I did have to replace the freehub body on my crappy Easton wheels.

I emailed Salsa Support and they said that 156q would work just fine. Looks like I'm going XX1 in about a week. Pics to come soon.

J3- Looking foward to seeing that XX1 on your Spear. I have a 166q XX crank and the arm barely clears the rear suspension lower stay on the non driveside.

I just put a poor mans xx1 on my Spearfish. I ordered a Northshore BB30 XX1 spider and xx1 chain-ring and made my bike a 1x10. I mounted the spider up to my 167.5 Q-factor XO crank.

It works perfectly using a 10 speed chain and shadow plus rear derailleur. I was amazed by how much quieter it made my bike and I dropped a pound of weight. I went with the XX1 chainring over wolf tooth so I can quickly swap out sizes.

Its getting there. I'm just waiting on the driver body for my hub and I'll get it going. This is 156q. Its also sporting a new Wheels Mfg. ceramic bottom bracket.

Here it is. 156q works! I've yet to give it a proper ride. Will report back tomorrow.
