spearfish rear derailleur - medium or short cage

I'm about to order - planning on running 2x10, I've got a XO crank with a 42T big ring, and will run 36T on the cassette. I'm guessing medium cage - but would a short cage work?

I don't think you'd make it with a short cage. That definitely sounds like medium cage territory.

I'm running the same gearing, but using X9 components. Go with a medium cage.

I'm running 42-28 front with a short cage no problems. 11-32 rear 2x9. But I hardly use the 42 front and I never cross gears.
