Noticed after todays ride that there is 1/4" to 3/8" side to side play in the crank. I'll be taking to the shop tomorrow, but was wondering what could be causing it. Checked the 10mm allen and it was not loose. Haven't delved into these new fangled parts so I'm open to ideas.
Hmm, pf30 BB? Is there a preload adjustment on the bb? On the non-drive side between the crank and the bb shell there may be a 2.5mm or 3mm Allen set screw on an outer bb plate-sora-thing that maybe you could loosen which would allow you to then thread the whole plate-sorta-thing tighter against the bb bearing and then retighten the little set screw to hold the adjustment. You may need to add a plastic spacer or two to take up the slack between the cranks and the bb too. Good luck
I've just got a Spearfish fame and am about to build. It's always been a dislike of the idea of PF30 bb that has stopped me trying Spearfish until now. I'd been so pleased the maufacturers had finally got external threaded bb's working reliably that I just hated the idea of press-fit. However curiosity to try the Spearfish and the favourable comment about the Praxis system have finally persuaded me. I'll post up piccies and comment when she's built and ridden. I'm going to try it out with the 1 x 10 setup from my El-Mar Ti to see how I get on.
