    Salsa Vaya 2 2013 - 2014

Trying to decide on the 2013 vs 2014 Vaya 2. I can get the 2013 for about $300 less and from what I can tell the main difference is SRAM Apex double vs Shimano 105 triple. Has anyone ridden both years and can let me know what I might be missing by going with the 2013? Thanks!

Do you want a double or a triple? Buy accordingly.

I think the 2013 Vaya 2 (vanilla/blue) complete is one of the sharpest bikes I've ever seen, and the build is really solid right out of the box. I was very lucky to find a 57cm (deeply discounted as well) and picked it up today. Quick change of saddle and pedals, and ready to ride. I swapped out the 48/34 apex crank for a X.5 39/26 in deference to the steep hills around me. I've seen the 2014 Vaya 2 live, and it is not nearly as good looking as the '13, IMHO.

Thx, I forgot to update this thread! I picked up a 2013 Vaya 2 mid November at an incredible close-out price. It's almost stock except the shop had put a custom set of XT / Velocity Dyad wheels on it. Really love the bike although I have noticed the paint does mark / chip rather easily.
I would have been OK with the 2014 Blue Vaya 2, but I prefer the double Sram crank and the 2013 was a great deal!

    Ditto. It's gorgeous.

If any of you guys ever want to change out your vanilla fork, or cut your steerer, I'm a buyer. They cut mine at the shop, and I need that extra 80mm.
