    Mariachi Ti, 2012 or 2013?

I'm looking for a Mariachi Ti and have an opportunity to buy a 2012 model new. Since I will never run it single speed, I'd prefer the fixed dropouts on the 2012. Other than that, the frames seem identical and the build kits are equivalent. The 2013 rear parts look cool, but it's more stuff to deal with, more bolts and parts and probably less stiffness. Any thoughts?

Didn't cable routing change too? IIRC, the 2013 cables all run along the top tube.

    From the site:
    2012:
Custom-spec'd tube sizes, diameters, and wall thicknesses. Appropriate stiffness where needed and compliance where needed result in fantastic ride quality. Light weight. Superior fatigue life

    2013:
Custom-spec'd, double-butted tubing. Appropriate stiffness and compliance for a fantastic ride quality. Light weight. Superior fatigue life.

I was in the same boat as you looking at a 2012 and 2013. The newer tube set is suppose to be lighter and stiffer but it comes w an alternator drop out which adds weight over the vertical drop out. Did you actually see both in person? I prefer the brighter finish on the 2013 and the rear stays seemed to have a little more manipulation (read flatter stays). Add the new style cable routing under the top tube and there is a significant difference between them. But if Lynskey and American made mean anything to you then the 2012 would be your answer. Thanks, guys. The two cables (no housing) under the down tube were moved to the underside top tube with the others. Small improvement. The tubing 'wording' is different but it may be the same stuff and if not the difference is not that important to me. Brighter finish, well, I prefer the industrial mill that I can touch up with a scotchbrite pad. Probably going for the 2012. Considerable cost savings, too!

One is double butted (2013) and one is not (2012)

    Both are a "bare" finish.

I guess I am the opposite, I prefer the less shiny finish of the 2012 personally, but part of that is that it matches up well color-wise with the Moots cockpit pieces I have on mine. That and as you have stated, I have no intentions of running single speed so I prefer the cleaner look of the fixed dropouts. I do prefer the OEM build over the 2012 component wise if buying pre-built.

Doesn't seem opposite to me, as you seem to have the same preferences.

I bought the NOS 2012 today from a dealer across the country and will have it in a week.

Anyone looking for a used frame should NOT rule out the 2011. The cable routing under the BB and the 1.125" headset work just fine.
