Personally I would say green. Then again I'm not some dirty hippie either. Is that SWK or XX?

Great bikes and builds! I'm building up a blue 2012 El Mar soon (all parts are still in the boxes), does anyone have tips that could help a first time Salsa builder out? It will be single speed and run a Chainlove marzocchi 44 micro ti 29 fork, many other closeout parts and old school BB7 brakes.

It looks like this is a fairly light El Mar build? (is that a Tune saddle I see?)
Can you list the weight and build specs?

The fork is painted here in Belgium by David Meirhaeghe. The saddle is a tune speedneedle.

The build is not yet complete. Updates will be a tune stem and a few other bits and pieces. I will post a full spec and weight when it's ready.

    Cheers!

Hey jgoodlet, you got any pics of your El Mar? I just got my slate El Mar and will be doing my first build. I am interested in seeing how your Chris King Inset7 looks. What fork did you go with?

    Weight is 10kg 990grams or 24.2lbs

Salsa el mar, Lefty PBR 29'er, salsa pro moto handlebar, hope headset, esi grips, tune stem and seatpost, tune speedneedle, midlleburn cranks with surly chainring, LX square taper bb, Paul chain device, XO 10-speed with xt casette, crest wheelset with dt revo and tune cannonball hub at the front, hope hub at the back, king cages, hope race brakes, titanium and alu bolts.

Planned upgrades are a tune bb and alu body for my rear hub. I have them both but still need to install them.

    Greetings!

For those of you who bought the build kit but are running the el mariachi rigid, how did you convert the front wheel to be compatible with the rigid fork?

Whoah! Sorry for the delay...haven't checked this thread in a bit.

I'll try and get some pics up in the next couple of days. I've currently got it setup with a Fargo fork. Some folks have said they think the transition into the headtube with a 1 1/8" steerer looks a little funky...I think it looks fine.

When I was mulling over getting a new bike over the past couple of months, I kept coming back to this thread and looking through it.

Just look what it made me do.

Just got it and put it together last night. Looking foward to the first ride!
