    Estimate on 2015 release timeline?

    Hey all.

Looking to buy my first Salsa bike, and El Mariachi 2. I'm ready to pull the trigger now, but I have a knee surgery coming up in a month or so, and I was wondering whether I should wait until after I'm recovered (6–8 weeks after surgery) in case the 2015 models would be released. I thought it'd be in the summer, but not so far…

Does anyone know roughly when the models for 2014 were announced/released in 2013?

    Cheers

The Horsethief/Spearfish first impressions were out in June last year. Those two just underwent a major change and have nothing but rave reviews, so I'd expect them to remain fairly unchanged if an updated 2015 model is announced this summer. Not sure about the El Mariachi.

Note that it took months after that before people were getting their 2014 frames/bikes without significant delays.

According to this link - there isn't much different from 2014 to 2015 El Mar 2s except for and additional color for each. Salsa Cycles

too much plastic, too many black and neon green bikes, looks too much like the crap from Speca-treka-dale. Really disappointed with the SF and HF and the marketing based decision to populate the lineup with disposable plastic frames.

To each his own. The fact that the Horsethief is basically unchanged shows how great the 2014 frame was. If you want the carbon, you have that option, but if you want the aluminum frame, now's probably the time to buy the 2014 frame on discount. I built this build up for less than $4k including tax and shipping, and that bike's neither black nor neon. Get the frame at a discount and it's even more affordable to get a great non-carbon Horsethief built with amazing components.
