Color of blue of new El Mariachi - name/number?

I would like to paint something to match an El Mariachi. That blue is gorgeous.

Is that a standard color available anywhere, or is it a custom blend for Salsa?
If it's a standard color, could anyone tell me what it is?

    Thanks in advance.

I am sure that is a custom blend for Salsa - they call it "Slate Blue" for the 2012 models. If you can get a picture of one when they show up (soon) then you can probably get a good paint mixer to come up with a really close blend.

Are you speaking of "Bomb Pop Blue", the bright blue on the 2011 El Mariachi frame? Or "Slate Blue", the pearlized color on the 2012 El Mariachi frame?

Just got a 2012 frame in today - it looks nice - a bit more subdued than the 2011... I like both of them. Since there are no more Mediums in the 2011 models, I guess the color choice now comes to either the Slate Blue or the new Jungle Green...

Well, I have to be honest. I built a custom road bike for myself at Yamaguchi's school, and I want to paint it that color blue. I saw one in person and was just floored. I could bring in an image and have a painter try to match it, but I was hoping for a PMS tone (or whatever the standard is for powder coating or metal painting) or even a swatch.

A bit of a tall order, but I figure it was worth a shot.

    Hey ATBScott,

Any chance you can snap a pic and post it up? I'm curious what the new blue really looks like. From the Salsa site I think I prefer the green, but the blue doesn't look too bad either. Gotta move the EMD and then one of these will live in my basement!

Here they are from the show. I loved the blue, but the green one is absolutely stunning. I'll be getting a green frame when they are available.

Thanks! The green looks to be the way to go for me too.....as long as there is a color matched rigid fork!

schnee, I'm with you. The 2011 Bomb Pop Blue is amazing - and it's even better in person. I love my charcoal color, but I'm so envious of that blue.

If I were you, I'd email the guys at Salsa and just ask them if there's any code or anything for the 2011 bomb pop blue. They've been really helpful for me in the past. Email support@salsacycles.com

Oh, and if you find out, let us know

Thanks for the suggestion. I emailed them and they told me it's a custom color. Oh well. I'm sure Spectrum can get something pretty awesome from pictures I email them.

There are a couple of iphone apps like myPantone and Color Expert that will use the built in camera to find the pantone color or RGB code. Wonder if someone who has the frame can do that?
