I have now had the bike for 3 months, so past the new bike happiness that hinders reviews.
Rides so far 5 or more per week for the last 3 months
Front Range Colorado, Moab, Fruita, BME Enduro Snowmass
Set Up I am 6ft
large with 70 stem and dropper
flow ex wheels
Pike at 120
The bike rocks,
climbing is great, I leave it in descend all the time. I get full travel on most rides, I have the shock set at my body weight. Front end does not wander at all with the pike set at 120. i just feels right.
Descending, This is where I notice the biggest change from my last bike the tallboy, the 68 head tubes makes a big difference rolling steep stuff, like the black jack trail and hells kitchen in snowmass. It just gives you more confidence with out feeling like you are on a huge bike.
I do notice this bike feels plush on ruff stuff.
Cornering, this bike feels like you are in it and not on top of it, if feels very low and snappy like the tallboy, which in my opinion is great. It wants to rail corners and is super fun to ride. It is easy to manual and wheelie and this is due to the short wheel base and chain stays.
Over all I feel this bike is great, playful, snappy, plusher and slacker than the bike I am use to, and just pure fun to ride.
This bike is completely different from the last horsethief, way more playfull and nimble.
Coming off a vpp for the last 4 years, the split pivot works amazing.
The Pike is the real deal and works great, just like all the reviews.
It is just awesome.
the only issue i have had is some noise, and that was due to some pivots coming loose and blue locktite solved this issue(some one from salsa explained how to fix this in another post)
Back Ground, Came off of tallboys c for 4 years, and think it is a great bike, just wish it was slacker and I would call it the tallboy tr.
other bikes i have ridden and or owned, and thought were good but not as good as the horsethief or tallboy c,
tallboy ltc, new wfo, 429c, 5010, bronson, sb95c
