    2014 anyone?

Looks like many 2013 models are already sold out. I wonder what the gossip has in store for the 2014 model year. We know about the Carbon Beargrease already...

Personally, I'm waiting to see when a Spearfish might become available. I guess a Ti Spearfish would be (a) a dream and (b) of minimal benefit

A Ti Spearfish would be (a) heavier (b) major frame flex and (c) $$$. Makes no sense at all. Carbon done correctly is a different story.

Salsa have historically not opperated in annual cycles for models. Are we sure they have even been sucked in to this BS to start with? A shame if true as it can only lead to various combinations of rushing and delaying.

That is the Powder Keg, slated for release in 2015 by the looks of it, as seen on DirtRag here.

    2014 anyone?

Hoping for shorter chainstays, better cable routing and more emphasis on mountain bikes. There was a blurb on twentynineinches.com to expect some more advanced mtb product revealed this summer. We'll see.

I just picked up my 2013 Spearfish 1 at my LBS today. They had a new Ti El Mariachi frame hanging in the showroom. It arrived a week ago.

A couple of local shops here in SE Michigan have received completes, and my shop (Trail's Edge) has received a frame. From my (mostly outsider) perspective they seem to be arriving in very scattered patterns.

What size are you waiting on? I have someone here waiting for a medium.

A medium here as well. I've seen one medium complete at Tree Fort Bikes a month or so back, so they must be slowly rolling in. I'd heard that mine is/was supposed to be assembled at QBP this week, so I'm hoping it'll arrive at the shop next week. It's a bit disappointing as I'd originally expected to have it mid-December, but as long as I get it within the next two weeks or so to have it ready for a local endurance race I'll be happy.

In case any of you are interested, my 2013 complete El Mariachi Ti arrived yesterday and I've nearly got it built up.

If you'd like to see some photos I've taken during unboxing and assembly (to this point) they can be found here.

Is there any wonder why manufacturers are so tight lipped about new models & changes in existing bikes?

Regardless of any new models being launched, the current ones don't become obsolete overnight.

Agree and if you want a certain model then get it. Resale value of bikes have never been an issue to me. I want what I want.

Bzzzzt Wrong! But thanks for playing....

Simply making a frame in titanium doesn't mean it will be major flexible or heavier. Titanium CAN be used to make a frame ride better, because it can safely flex near infinite times without fatigue failure being an issue if the load level is taken into account when designing it, unlike Aluminium where every time it flexes, is 1 step closer to failure, and all Al alloys suffer this problem, including scandium enhanced ones (this forum is full of former Dos Niner owners for example). As to heavier, again it comes down to the frame design, but there are a number of frames that have come out far lighter and more reliable in titanium than in aluminium.

They are planning something... i got this exact wording from a large volume salsa dealer...

"I know what they're planning but I can't tell you about it".

    Yep. Same here.

My shop had to sign a non-disclosure. So yeah, nitropowered should probably shut his word-hole.

Well, if they come out with a longer travel 650 FS bike, then I am glad I didn't pull the trigger on one of those 2012 HThief models from Universal. I can see me getting long travel 650b down the road. When I was in Prescott, AZ for the WOFR race, Salsa was there. I asked them point blank about a carbon Mamasita and carbon in general. They told me nope and sounded pretty serious. They said the only thing carbon will be the beargrease. Also, I asked if they can at least give me colors on the new Sita and they laughed with a "no".. I was able to score some salsa bike packing straps though.. I can't wait to see what colors they come out with for 2014.

Looks pretty cool. Hopefully with them touting their Black Hills riding, they'll be back to support the Dakota 5-O. However, I'm more interested in frame only Mukluk options for 2014.

So, there is a lot of news out on the FS models, how about the HT's?? Anyone have any new on Salsa's hard tail rigs? My guess is the Mamasita (if they still continue it for 2014) will get the anodized finish with the BB92 bottom bracket. I would imagine the 2014 El Mars will still keep the same frame style. Curious on the new colors though.

There was a time when I would have written carbon fatbike as a joke, but they already have that in the works. So I would say nothing is too far out there for them right now.

It would be great if they made the Fargo with Alternator dropouts. There are quite a few of us Fargonauts who wish it were easier to run singlespeed or an internally geared hub on the Fargo.

Actually, on the component front, I wish for a carbon Woodchipper.
