    Vertex 50 '09

Have the chance of a Vertex 50 09 model can anyone tell me a little about this. I like a laid out feel and not cramped and this seemed to fit the bill. I aint a racer anymore but any info on this bike would be appreciated.

Incidentally can the Fox forks have ahandlebar mounted lockout lever?

You can retro a handlebar remote, but you need to swap the entire damper unit. But you could in the process step up to the much lighter and more plush FIT damper...

The geometry should be the same as the 2008 models.

I hate metric and imperial mixed. That killed Beagle 1 (google it). Damn I need imperial for top tubes but am too lazy to convert.

Just be glad the seat and head tube angles weren't in Celsius degrees.

Have just become an owner. One thing can the forks be retro fitted with a lockout lever on handlebar?

You have to change the damper cartridge to get one that has remote lockout.

How do you remove spacers above headset? Is this cut the fork tube thing or can I simply slip them out?

You can just slide them off and put them above the stem until you decide what height you want, then you need to cut the steer tube if you want them to go away completely.

Can you get boots for the suspension and are they recommended?

I also note Fox make a remote lockout and its available however I can't find any info on their site which the dealer said I should look at re fitting this.

If you're in the UK contact TF Tuned about Fox shock work and mods/tuning like the remote lockout.

I have a RM Vertex 50 also and love the ride. It is super smooth for a hardtail, much smoother than my old specialized HT. Of course a certain RockyUphill character says that the new carbon HT is too notches better...hard to believe, but I have to take his word for it.
And...I will try to not spend anymore on a new carbon frame
