Vertex 29 SE or Element 50 Can't decide.

I am looking to add a XC bike. I can't decide. I am 6'3'' and 220lbs. This bike will be used strictly for XC rides. I have a Santa Cruz Butcher as an all-mountain bike and am just torn on which bike to get... any advice?

29 Hardtail vs. 26" Full suspension? I went through the same debate for weeks before finally buying my latest bike just last Friday.

I love the Vertex 29 SE but they're built very big and in the end I went with and Altitude 50... AND a 29er hardtail (not a Rocky though )

I guess you could say that I didn't drink the 29er koolaid but I am still very intrigued. Not enough riding on either so far to post my opinion but the bottom line is that I went with my Altitude for my trail ripping and my 29er HT for XC riding.

    element gets my vote

I have a 2002 Turner RFX as my bigger bike and I just got a Element MSL frame and built it up a couple of weeks ago. It's the perfect XC bike for me because even though it's 25 pounds and climbs incredibly well I don't have to shy away from hitting whatever I come across on the trail. There's a fairly new thread here called "Finally done" That shows my MSL complete. Can't say enough good things about the Element it's truly amazing!
