Switching rear shock on 07 Team Sc Element and 01 Instinct

Thanks in advance. I'm pretty there's some Rocky Mountain gurus here, Rockyuphill comes to mind.

So here's what I'm thinking. Both the frames are 18". I have the 07 Element in pieces after Crank the Shield in Ontario last year and have been riding the 01 Instinct sparingly since. I can really tell the difference in pedaling between the two even basically with the same build. On the Instinct I have the stock Fox Float RL and on the Element I have a RP3 usually set for firm. I'd like to take the RP3 and put it on the Instinct for a little while until 'late spring' to rebuild the Element.

Will this work without any complications?

You want to compare the length of the shocks, I think you'll find the Element Team RP3 shock is a 1/2" shorter than the 01 Element shock. That would drop the rear end of your '01 Element by almost 1.5" and likely result in the linkage hitting the seat tube at max compression.
