Thanks Rocky I was hoping you would chime I have the DT RWS skewers , my drop out looks chewed up from the threads on the hub and yours look smooth. What do you think the difference is caused by ? You probably have better hub and it does not have the threads for the bearings so it smooth. Do you guys think this is a problem or just keep riding it and not think about ?
I'm using 240S DT hubs. Are you using the standard 5mm diameter RWS skewer or the 10mm thru axle version? The 10mm thru axle version is stiffer and likely can clamp down a bit harder which would prevent any flex that might allow the threads to chew into the dropout. Your dropouts have deeper and more distinct knurled hub imprints than mine, which also might indicate there was some flexing allowing the hub to dig in deeper.
I am using the 5mm RWS skewer, I am also 220lbs in gear so it chould be flex and the guy I bought it off was 240 ish in gear. I am looking at up grading wheels this winter so I will look at getting 10 mm thru axle. Hope fully that will stop the wear. Thanks
