Need just one thing to make my current and future Rocky Mtn's perfect...
MORE REAR TIRE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE CHAIN STAYS
I have a carbon Element 70 MSL and have been looking at the carbon Altitude
when I use a 2.35 tire on a Flow rim, any mud or perhaps even wheel flexing under hard cornering wears off the paint on the inside of the chain stays. I currently keep reapplying sacrificial epoxy (JB Weld) to prevent further wear
The Altitude on display at my local bike shop looks just as tight, and with many wider carbon rims coming out there will likely even be more need for extra clearance in the future
There is currently plenty of space between the chain rings, crank and tire to bow out the stays more (only those who want to put a low Q >44 tooth single ring crankset on might disagree)
That is unfortunate, but I have to add that altitudes and slayers have good clearance. I can fit a 2.5 in the back easily on my slayer and an altitude i rode had a 2.35 hans dampf with no issues.
was your's metal or plastic? I see that the aluminum ones have much more clearance (the carbon altitude at the local bike shop has a 2.35 hans dampf )
I know its too late to make a change in carbon molds, but maybe still time to make changes to a BC Edition 120/140 carbon Thunderbolt?
or maybe replace the carbon chainstay with an aluminum one on what ever I plan to ride

lots of good reasons to go to a wider tire, so hopefully more tire clearance for future Rockies
