    Coil shock on a 2012 slayer 50

Who's done it. Pros and cons? Does the bike still climb well? I don't shuttle very often, mostly climbing up and riding down.

What's your goal for the change? Are you you having trouble getting the bike dialed in for your weight range?

Mostly just a bad case of upgrade-itis and i can get a pretty good deal on a fox shock. I also feel like I'm adding a lot of pressure and still going through my travel pretty quickly. Or I add too much pressure and its too firm. I can't seem to find the right range. I'm about 220#s all geared up.

I also have a 140mm hard tail 29er that is my go to trail bike, so I was thinking of beefing up the slayer a bit.

I'm planning on adding a vector HLR coil on mine sometime this year, if you do it let me know how it turns out!

I have the same issue as you, too much air and it's too firm, just under that and it goes through the mid-strock too quickly. It must not be a weight thing, because I'm about 150 all geared up.

If its a 2012, then its a Fox RP23 right? You might try just spending $14 on a volume reducer kit from Fox. This will keep things active and make the shock more progressive towards the end of the stroke. The kit comes with 3 plastic reducers, which take about 2 minutes to change. Try the larger volume reducer first.
