this is my 3rd RM vertez 29er and the first time im having this little issue, which im sure there is a solution to.
The rear axle nut (cassette side) keeps falling off when im removing the axle. You are supposed to set it correctly to have your axle close adequately but the nut remains loose and falls off anytime im removing the axle.
Can't speak directly about the Vertex but my Instinct has a small set screw to hold the axle bolt in place. Maybe check if it's the same on the Vertex.
That's my Instinct 999 MSL frame in the photo. I'm not sure if they did that on the Vertex, the Vertex isn't in the Tech manual (likely because there's no moving parts on the frame) so I couldn't see if any of the Vertex frame vintages used the set screw.
"Our only gripe involves the threaded nut for the rear through-axle, which is cleanly tucked away into the driveside dropout and is adjustable for lever position. Otherwise, though, it's unsecured, so it can easily fall out when the wheel is removed."
On your frame weight issue. I noticed on the website that I cant find the use of hi-mod carbon any more.
On the older reviews it was right in the specs. One of two things has happened here, 1, they are using standard carbon to keep price lower (they have great prices last couple years) or 2, they just dont care to mention it anymore.
Oh and what did toy ekd up doing for the axel bolt?
