Altitude Rally Edition - Frame Only?

    Hi All,

Does anyone know if the 2014 Altitude Rally Edition (carbon frame) will be available as a frame only option with the Fox Float X Kashima CTD rear shock.

If so, will it have a different color paint job and does anyone know what price its likely to be.

    Many thanks.

This is what I would like to know as well.

Oh, and can we get it without the remote for the rear shock? I hate cluttered bars!

The information that I got is that Rocky is only offering an Altitude 799 frame for 2014.

far as I could tell from the press release, the "Rally Edition" is nothing more than the standard frame with "special" parts and a longer fork - HTA is slacker AND the BB is higher and that's what happens when you just stick a longer for on a frame.

Nope, Rally has alloy rear end and IMHO Rally has lower BB ( from -14 to +7 vs from -10 to +10mm)

The Rally Edition is a 770 which has an aluminum rear end, so it is the same frame.

Actually you are right about the alu rear tri, but the BB drop/BB height nor the angles are any different, it just uses a 160mm fork instead of the 150mm fork - do the math and you'll seee that 10mm is roughly equal to just under a 1/2 degree in geo, so the HTA goes from 66.6* fo the "normal" to 66.2* for the Rally, STA angle has the same .4 of a degree change and the BB of course would have less drop/higher BB if it's using a taller A2C fork right

They've tweaked the rear triangle on the Rally edition to get those geo numbers. 10mm taller fork would normally be about 5mm higher BB, and yet the Rally edition has an overall lower BB height by 3-4mm and a 1mm greater range of Ride9 adjustment (21mm versus 20mm for the standard Altitude). The standover height is only 2mm higher with the 10mm taller fork.

Compare the kink at the shock linkage end of the seat stay and the angle the swing link makes to the seat stay. The shock might be shorter as well.

the ride 9 chip is in a different position in those 2 pictures that accounts for that difference in the pics.

Had them overlaid in Photoshop and I think Rocky is on to something, think they achieved the changes at least in part through the different alu rear tri where he pointed out, coupled with the longer fork. Also looks like maybe they did something different around the BB, but unfortunately though the photos for both bikes use 2 different sizes, the Alt RE is a Medium and the Alt normal is a Large, so comparing them isn't possible - most likely a reason they didn't use the same size bike for each for this reason
