    2012 RC element 930 29er brakeline help?

    Hey guys,

I have a new 2012 930 coming my way. I was hoping for a 950+ but took what i could find. I have owned many 26'ers and this is my first 29er' ( i know , a little late ). The bike is a week away in the mail so hoping one of you could help.

I want to order xt 785 brakes for upgrade but don't know what hose lengths I need front and rear for a medium. I see they come in various lengths in the pre-bled.

Can anyone give me these measurements in CM.

    Thanks

The rear brake hose on a large Element 70 RSL with 26" wheels and a 685mm handlebar is 1550mm. The chainstays on a 17" Element 930 are 20mm longer than the 70, and the top tube is 20mm shorter, so you'd likely be looking at something like 1570-1590mm as a reasonable starting point.

Front brake hose on a 26" wheel Element RSL is 850mm so the front hose on a 29" with 100mm travel should be right around 890-900mm long. Or 910-920mm for a fork that could extend to 120mm of travel.

Thanks for the fast reply Rocky, what a great community! I am struggling however, as i look at various set-ups, the longest rear i see is 1500 mm but most are 1200 to 1350 mm.
Can my rear by that long?

Oh yes it can, the path down the downtube and along the chainstay is much longer than the top tube/seat stay routing. I had to buy a hose kit and put a new hose on my XTR brakes.

Chain Reaction has XT rear brakes with 1700mm hoses
