2012 Element 950 rear derailleur CAGE

I took a spill and need a new rear derailleur. I am just going to replace the stock SRAM X9 with a new X9.

I am 99% certain that it is a "LONG CAGE." Can someone please confirm?

Are you going with the X-9 Type 2 RD with the damper clutch?

The SRAM medium cage is roughly 3" or 75mm between pulley centres so you should be able to confirm what you have based on that number.

To be clear: if you ask SRAM, they will tell you LONG CAGE. We spec MED CAGE, knowing that if you ride small/small there will be slack in the chain. But you shouldn't ride small / small ANYHOW. The med cage is just long enough to ride big/big, without having a big ol' derailleur hanging' out there looking for a root to snag. That's our "official" position.
