2007 Slayer SXC and 2008 Flatline 1 shocks
Need some help to upgrade my shoks.
Have a 2007 Slayer SXC wuth rp23, and want to change to DHX air.
Also have a 2008 Flatline 1 with Van R (coil) and want to swap it for DHX 4.0.
Can you guys help me with shocks sizes that fit?
The DHX Air on the Slayer SXC is not a great combination, it blows through travel and makes it much harder to pedal. A lot of people changed their SXC 70 from DHX Air to the RP23. In fact you'd likely be able to find people here who have a DHX Air laying around after they put an RP23 on their SXC that would be happy to sell one to you. I have ridden both and the RP23 makes it a better bike to pedal. I had an RP23 on my SXC. With a DHX Air you're half way through the travel on small bumps. The SXC leverage ratio is designed to apply lots of leverage to the mid range of the shock travel so it is plush and responsive. Your best solution is to have an RP23 Push'd to match your weight and riding style on the SXC, that makes a huge difference.
The SXC RP23 shock is a 7.875" x 2.25" with Fox 803-03-030 reducers on the shock body and 803-03-030 reducers on the shaft end.
The Flatline 1 uses an 8.5" x 2.5" shock with 803-03-088 reducers on the shock body and 803-03-088 on the shaft end.
