I'd love to see it be a 29er, but im assuming Rocky will stick with 27.5. What I hope it will be is; 29er, 140 or 150mm rear, 150 or 160 front, 66.5-65.5 ha w/ ride 4 (I'm assuming it will be based off the slayer).

RMB responded to a nasty facebook comment about dropping the altitude for the pipeline with 'Don't you worry @whiner, we haven't forgotten about the altitude :-)'

Okay, I am paraphrasing, but that is a pretty public statement of intent.

I love my tbolt, but my trails are crowded with smiling altitude owners. Even Jesse Melamed was riding his altitude when the rest of the team went slayer.

I would love to see an new Altitude as I have the feeling the new Slayer would be a bit too much for my trail riding. But still loving my current Altitude custom build.

I think this line of thinking sounds pretty good. Would be cool if is 29/B+ compatible.

Boost with a stiffer rear end. I don't know what else there is to improve upon as the current Altitude is a pretty bad ass, ride it all, quiver killer kind of bike.

I work at a shop that deals rocky and it sounds like April or May launch, and the mock ups for it look great.

Anybody have any info on what this will be? I seen Jesse Melamed is already riding one(no good pics of it though). Sounds like he is racing it in the EWS this year. Interesting that this would be his choice over a Slayer if it is a smaller travel 27.5 wheeled bike!??! Maybe it is just wishful thinking, but I would love a 150mm rear/ 160mm front 29er based on the new Slayer design with all the new standards(metric shock, Boost, longer/lower geo, etc). something to take on Trek Slash, Specialized Enduro Yeti SB5 and Evil Wrecking. Brian Park recently hinted at this coming in a Q And A on Bike Mag. I guess the question is... is the new long travel 29er the soon to be released Altitude or is it a year or so off replacement of the Instinct?

I could just post a pic of the geo chart for it, which all rocky dealers have at this point, but for some reason whatching you all guess is so much more entertaining.

    Dear god, I hope it's available as a 27.5.
But the quote from Brian Park that the Altitude will be available for its EWS riders makes me think so...

    Yes, my thread!!

Another quote from a pinkbike user:

"2018 altitude 160 front 150 rear, 65ish headtube angle, aluminium and carbon models with a higher end aluminium build. Geo lines up super close to the slayer. Droppers on all, everything comes with wide bars short stems and 1x drive trains stock. Boost of course. And it gets a similar suspension treatment to the elements. Ride 4 at the rocker instead of the top tube. Changes up the anti squat as well, should feel a little more lively (......) ... Haha you're right there's all sorts of things they could have done but they really didn't. There's not much that sets it apart at all in fact there's pretty much an overlap. Couldn't tell you what would make someone choose one or the other. It may just be a matter of if you can actually get one. I ordered my slayer in September and the ETA is may. So by the time it actually gets here I'm sure it'll be June. By that point maybe the altitudes will be rolling out"

This is so exciting, cant wait for more infos. PLEASE Gvus2001, dont torture us!
Really love that thought as I think the Slayer is absolutely awesome but its just too close to my new DH rig Propain Rage CF. So the future Altitude could really replace my current 2015 Slash 9.8, that I am planning to run for another season or two. An 160/150 with 27.5 or even 29 enduro bike (would love a lockout remote for the enduroraces) would be exactly what Im looking for by then!

Saw one being tested on the Shore couple months ago.

All carbon, looks very similar to the new Element with the same style shock mount and pivot. 27.5. Frame weight just a little bit more than the Element, about 5 lbs. Has an ICG05 bash guard mount. Boost.

It disappeared into the forest before I could get the top tube length and HT angle!

Hopefully even when there is no remote in the final Version, there is a possibility to put it on afterwards.

There is a hole in the underside of top tube for a remote exit, same as Element.

Nice, but the Monarch doesnt have a remote Lever available. We will see.

Do you think it will be a BC Edition available or not due to the Slayer?

Can't wait for that Thing and hope that it is even more capable than the current Altitude.

There is a remote Monarch on the Rockshox site.

BC Edition is a growing theme across the whole line, so my guess is a yes.

I just noticed on the RM web site that the Altitude is listed as a 2016 while the other bikes still with the older frames are listed as 2017. Is this a clue? Every country listing is the same, 2016 for Altitude only.

Mid '17 model is my guess.

okay, didnt know about the remote on the Monarch. Did it have a piggy back?

Yeah really hoping for a BC Edition.

Yes but the older Frames are listed as 2017 because they got new Colors and stuff. The altitude is all the same and they probably wait till they bring out the new one rather than the old one with only new Colors.

So what do we have so far?

    - new Frame but shockmount till top tube
    - new Pivots (probably like new slayer / element)
    - Boost
    - 27.5
    - 160 front/150 rear (do we know that one for shure?)
    - it still sits in the aggressiv Trail / Allmountin / Enduro category
    - 65ish ° HTA
    - Ride 4 (do we know that for shure?)

Thats about it I think. Hopefully it will be lighter than the current Altitude. ~28lbs would be nice for the BC Edition (w/o pedals)

Where are the mockups and geocharts?

Safe to say they announce it will no longer have a Rally version and that they'll announce at Sea otter? The Freeride Team press release says they'll be on it. Super happy with my '16 770MSL.

I was going to post a link to the NZ Enduro Facebook page as there was a picture of Jesse Melamed on there riding a white bike that looked very similar to the current Altitude. It's been pulled so I'm pretty certain it's the new Altitude! He was running a coil shock on it and the linkage appeared to have it's top pivot point further back on the top tube. I also think the ride-9 or 4 must be on the linkage as already suggested.

    The best I can find is Jesse's POV video;

I came across a shot of Flo Nicolai on more or less the same. DHX2 in there, lots of seatpost sticking out (meaning an L and probably same reach as the Slayer?), more box-section rather than round tubing. Can't tell what's going on with the linkage, though.

One of my LBS's is a Rocky dealer, and what kept me off the Altitude was the short reach of the medium, and the too long seat tube of the large. Not enough medium room, and can't fit a 150mm dropper on the large. From what I've seen from other new Rocky's I'm not eal hopeful that this will change.
I got some bad ideas in my head.

When will it be released? Will it be available with a coil shock as in the picture ?(probably not).

As shown in the picture, it appears that the color scheme will be purple and teal. Not so shure about that...

Are you referring to the fact that the drop outs on the frame are purple? Looks like they have just put white tape over it all.

I imagine a full release can't be too far away.

4:19-4:28 is about the clearest shot we've seen yet.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Rocky Mountain, make the new Altitude available in that color scheme (with an orange 36 and DHX2). Did I say please yet?

I was set on a Slayer but seeing this I think an Altitude is probably going to be my Altitude replacement!

There's now a short Q&A about the bike between RM and PB.

    Right now it's a 27.5, air shock

So what's the hook here over the 2016 version? Is it to get a longer bike and 148mm spacing? Di2 readiness? Taking stock on the old one: light, fits bottle, stiff, fun geo (great for snaking up tight switchbacks), 150mm travel, fits 2.4 tire, decent cable/dropper routing. Tough job for these guys to make a better ride. If its incremental change, and currencies are stable, let's hope they can hold steady on pricing. They always seem to nail the paint work, so am sure the new ones will offer up lots of eye candy.

I'm probably in a minority but I hope the production goes boosted 29 with option to run 27.5+, and the chainstays shorten up a bit.

Only 130mm rear travel, ride 9 is on top tube not linkage, chain stays are longer than I'm looking for.

Move the linkage (its asthetically better in the seattube), up travel to 150mm and pull the back wheel in tighter and boom... that's it for me

I see they are still going with the very tall seat tubes. On that photo the post is inserted all the way.
I got some bad ideas in my head.

Your local LBS should have the info. The formal release is mid May.

They are long in the front, I was surprised when I read the reach value for the large! Almost puts me back on a medium

Will it be the right bike for enduro races as well as homerides and long alpine biketours etc?

Since I just bought a new Downhiller, it doesnt have to do park, so I think the slayer will be too much. But I will ride Enduroraces quiet a lot and it has to be a strong and potent descender.

Whit this in mind, what would you prefer, Slayer or Altitude?

IME, there is a reason the EWS guys are riding it over a Slayer...

Pretty sure at least a couple of them were on the Slayer and the podium pic for fastest team has the slayer in front.

Interesting, I didn't know that. The Slayer is pretty badass!

I believe Flo and Seb are riding the Slayer right now, whereas Jesse, Remy and Vaea are all trying out the new Altitude.

Jesse and Remy are running a Fox36 fork and coil shock, while Vaea sports a Lyric and an air shock.

Ok. Anybody know the Frame weight? Hard to believe that it will be lighter than the olds 2380gr.

    Bike Shop told me:

    160/150
    no Rally Edition
    no Remote (Realy?)
    65° (nice!!)
    27.5

    Anybody knows more?

    Wait, there's gonna be a 970 Altitude?!

I wouldn't sell my Instinct for a 650b but I would totally be interested in a 29" wheeled bike with 150mm ish suspension travel and "Enduro" geometry.
