Ritchey carbon or Salsa steel rigid fork?

Anyone tried these forks? I have to choose one or the other soon. The Ritchey costs $460 and weighs about half what the $100 Salsa will. The Ritchey axle to crown measurement is only 410 mm. Is that enough or will it feel weird on the trails? Both accept V-brakes and discs. I'm not concerned about the Ritchey cost, it just seems like it's too short????

I put the Surly 1x1 fork on my MTB that had a 80mm fork travel. Works like a charm. Just make sure the fork is suspension corrected for the length fork that was originally on the bike!
