Help identifying material of Syncros seatpost

I have a Syncros seatpost here and I'm wondering if its aluminum or titanium? After searching the intardweb I've noticed that the ti version has a titanium decal but as you can see from my photos, the decals are rubbed off some what. I've also seen a ti model where there is a hole drilled out at the bottom of the seatpost. Is this typical of a ti Syncros post?

Is there a trick to identifying the material? Can you tell by the head clamp?

    FWIW the size is 29.3 x 330

I've run a couple of searches and haven't come up with anything. Probably using the wrong terms.

Yep, looks Ti to me too.

like I said above I should have been a little more clear, Aluminum has a pale silver color like the clamp of your post. And Titanium has a almost platinum or dark grey color like the shaft of your post. When they are side by side its super easy to tell.

The color. Very easy to identify to the trained eye.

Flick it at the end with your fingernail and and compare the ring to aluminum post's thud.

Also the wall thickness, not pictured, and the fact that I am not aware of Syncros making a champagne ano post.

also, any shavings under half a square millimeter will fall twice as fast as aluminum's.

    yup

you can see the difference in pic 2. pretty obvious the difference in material
plus I don't think Syncros made a Silver Alu post. I could be wrong but only remember black.
Maybe some silver Alu in the mid to late 90's. By 98 most of the line was Black

Post is ti as others mentioned, I'm more curious about what vintage or year they think it is. The two Syncros posts in our house are both mid 90's. The clamp setup is quite different.

Ours have a top clamp with much more thickness and is hollowed out, same for the lower clamp. Also the upper clamp on ours have round barrel nuts, allowing the fasteners not to bend as the clamp is tilted.

So much for the alleged wrongness of mining the board for info, failing to state your intent to list the item on ebay then proceeding to do so http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=120370483608

In the past, we've had people "mine the board" for info as if they were a new collector, and then turn around and put direct quotes from posts here in their ad. We are all happy to help out anyone new to the VRC "scene", but we generally don't take kindly to those who are only interested in profiting from freely given info.

Kind of like the Moderator is doing?

btw, I am in favor of discussing vintage bikes even if the bike may be for sale on ebay or CL. I don't mind one bit if you profit from the auction (hope you do) and hooray for having an accurate and informative item description. This is good for everyone.

I guess I should thank you for posting my listing? More exposure, thanks!

It was a genuine question. I fail to see what is wrong with that? At no point did I state that I was selling it. If you check my post history you'll see that all my for sale ads are posted with a paid MTBR classified ad. Not a moderators benefit. Like we get anything anyway.

Yours sounds like mine which is the same as the one pictured on this Bike Pro page http://www.bikepro.com/products/seatposts/syncros.html I am guessing that the OP's is a very early model...it sure looks very Syncrosish.
