    A ride, recently: Wandering.

"Black Elk says it is in the dark world among the many changing shadows that men get lost. Instead of insight, maybe all a man gets is strength to wander for a while. Maybe the only gift is a chance to inquire, to know nothing for certain. An inheritance of wonder and nothing more."

Mike, your posts are fantastic! Your photography is outstanding, I love how you shoot, especially the way you use depth of field (or lack thereof) to emphasize different aspects of your compositions. Your photos may even inspire me to put on my backpack & shoot from the trail!

I'm a milky way photo nut, by far my favorite subject to shoot but living in one of the most light polluted areas in the country forces long drives & limited shooting opportunities. I ended up with a handful of good compositions this year & will spend way more time than I care to think about editing & printing this winter with the hope of a local exhibition next fall.

Thanks for the amazing posts, keep em coming!

Sorry Mike, didn't see this reply the other day. Going to post a few from this summer below. These are all from Acadia National Park in Maine. Takes be 6+ hours to drive up there from western MA but it's dark & definitely worth it! (these are looking funky on my screen -may have something to do with coming from my phone to email to PC or maybe MTBR compression?)

Stunning. Once I sat in front of a dying campfire on the shore of Lake Superior until 2am unable to will my legs to carry me to bed, the stars were so beautiful, like your photos.
