    Road. That's really too bad.

According to this article: Author Stephen Covey hospitalized after bicycle accident

"The accident happened on a steep road in the foothills of Provo, about 45 miles south of Salt Lake City"

This injury sounds very similar to an injury a local mountain biker sustained while mountain biking. Some time after the accident, they discovered bleeding in the brain. He was lucky they caught it and were able to operate.

I'm not sure if Stephen Covey had any symptoms, but the moral of the story is if you get a head injury and have headaches weeks or months afterwards, see a doctor.

RIP Mr. Covey. Very, very sad.
Just recently here in San Antonio a 69 YR old man was hit on his road bike. The driver left him there to suffer. He passed away at the scene. He was on a access road. Had enough room. Just a moron driver not paying attention. Its sad.

Sounds like the helmet wasn't properly adjusted and his head did hit the pavement:

"Covey went down a hill too fast and flipped forward on the bicycle, Sagers said. She said her father was wearing a helmet but it appears to have slipped backward as Covey was falling. Covey’s head hit the pavement, Sagers said.
"It was a pretty big goose egg on the top of his head," Sagers said."
