    Mother in Law down.

The other morning my mother in law saw me packing my wife's bike in the car. She was curious and wanted to have a go on it, so foolishly I agreed. Unfortunately I forgot to warn her that brakes have got a bit stronger in the last twenty years. She was going ok until she grabbed a fist full of front brake and went over the bars onto the road. Ouch!

A trip to the A&E later and she was sporting two new casts. The diganosis: Two radial cap fractures ( my terminology may be wrong), and possibly two scaphoid fractures. And extremely embarrassed to boot.

I'll probably be in a world of trouble if she finds out I posted this here ha ha.

    That sucks

Getting older is a chore in itself and now TWO broken whatevers? Hope she keeps smiling like that. And see if the docs would take off those over-the-elbow casts and replace them with shorter ones so she can at least bend her elbows.

We usually keep him in a straight jacket but occasionally we let him out to "ride his bike". None of us have ever seen him on a bike but that's what he says. What he then does, though, is run to his laptop, log onto mtbr, check out wherever Squeak or myself have posted and just talk sh!t.

From the staff at the hospital we extend our deepest apologies for anything you might read that Fo has posted, either here or on any other forum. Forever.

Actually, I rode with him several years ago when he came to CO.

He's as big a dumbass in person as he is on MTBR and has absolutely no bike skills.

I'm sure no one is surprised.

Cheers. That's what I meant to say, right enough.

Oh yeah, about the full length casts, there are fractures in both elbows and she thinks both wrists.

Spongestick, see my post directly above yours. Actually my wife's twin helps.... bit of a team effort.
ilostmypassword, I quite like her really. (And she likes me too in a strange twist of fate)
Dgage, she says she wants to learn to ride properly after she heals. I told her we'll go to a big flat grassy park and she can wear my body armour.

    funny story
my mom did the same thing with my new single speed after i built it.
she just had to ride it to see how it was with only one gear
i forgot to tell her the juicy seven brakes are way better than her cantilevers.
luckily she escaped with only a few scrapes.
