I got wrecked by a tree

Not riding, but it's keeping me off the bike.

On february 11th I hit a tree while tree skiing at Killington, at the time I didn't think I was going too fast but in retrospect I guess it was a little excesive.

    Anyway, I got knocked out.
    Bit my tongue really bad
    Sperated my shoulder
    Broke 5 ribs
Broke 5 transverse processes (the part of your vertebrea that ribs attatch to)
From the force of the impact my lung tore, then collapsed and I had to have a chest tube put in to drain all the air and fluid that built up in my chest. Worst part about that was that it had to be done fast because I couldn't breathe so I only had minor topical anestesia so I didn't feel the incision, but I sure as hell felt it when the doc shoved the tube between my ribs and into my chest. I wish I had still been knocked out for that.

Spent 3 days in the ICU and 3 more in the regular surgical ward.

It'll be seven weeks this sunday. The lung Doc told me 8 weeks till I am allowed to road ride. I'm getting so freakin antsy to ride. All I want to do is hit some dirt.

Downhill domination is no longer fun, even when I wear my helmet and pads to play

Disclaimer: I no longer fix bikes for a living.

Holy cow. That's a serious list you've got there.

Thank goodness you're here to ride again. Bravo for your determination to get back.

I hope you recover without too much long lasting injury.
