I don't EVER want to suffer this!

Here's a pic of some bruising suffered by a local (S.Africa) rider. He was due to start his 5th Cape Epic(www.cape-epic.com) in 2 weeks.

Says he's trained harder for this race than any in his career. 2 weeks ago at a MTB race they were heading down a steep tar hill within 1km of the start, approaching a concrete bridge. He noticed that the course turned sharply immediately after the bridge and in his own words "in true roadie fashion" indicated with his right hand to the following riders that there was a sharp turn coming.

At this point he hit an unmarked speedbump at about 50km per hour, took off and lost his left hand off the bar as well and fell, landing on the concrete base of the bridge.

    End result:

    3 badly broken ribs
    Broken wrist
    Broken collarbone
    Shoulderblade broken in 3 places
    Broken hip
    3 days in ICU

He said on another forum that that is half of it....the bruising runs to his cycling tanline on his leg!
