    Hole in leg from pedal...

Was out dirt jumping the other day and I cased a jump causing my left foot to slip a pedal and my right foot to go full force and swing the left pedal right under my kneecap. I got lightheaded from the pain but rode for another half hour or so and went home. When I got home my knee was really stiff, hurt to flex it. I cleaned the wound out good and later on when I took a shower I noticed a thick flap of skin hanging and a deep hole where the pedal spike got me. It's small in diameter but maybe 1-8" deep..? I've been caring for it good and it stopped bleeding but now my knee is so damn stiff I can barely bend it unless I help it bend slowly.

Just wondering what I could have done to cause my knee to be so stiff now. Maybe I bruised the bone? I'm gonna get it checked out ASAP. I need to ride!!

Anyone else get bitten by their meat grinder pedals?

Any blow to your knee will cause swelling, it's natural for it to do that. You just need to do R.I.C.E (rest/ice/compression/elevation). Take some painkillers while you're at too.
It will be a few days before you will have full movement I'd imagine.
I don't crash, I just have slightly uncontrolled dismounts!

I once hit a small artery on my shin with a pedal spike, could see the blood pulse out with each heartbeat. That was one of many shin strikes.

I would think you could have done damage to the patellar tendon. I'm no doc, though.

It's still a little site but I have maybe 75% of the movement back. Went for a ride and its a lot better.

Smashed my shin a good one this morning. Those pins shred the skin pretty well.
