was just diagnosed and prescribed antibiotics.... I've been battling this for about 7 weeks (developed out of a cold) and have been happily riding in cold conditions anyways. Gotta stay sane somehow!
I am motivated to continue riding (20-mile round-trip commute to work tomorrow, and a 10 mile night ride later this week) but I'm wondering if it's a good idea. Temps here are in the 40's with showers forecasted.
You shouldn't ride in wet conditions anyway. It's bad for the trail and it kills your freehub and cables. So there is two additional reasons not to ride.

Dude I live in Seattle. The recession will be over before the trails dry out here
I do typically leave the trails in better condition than I found them in though.
Well I rode into work today, definitely some inner ear pressure build-up due to cold wind on the descents, but otherwise it felt good.
Here's what you need to do if you want to continue to ride with your ear that way.
Gonna have to go to your local health food/vitamin shop to get this stuff.
1. Get some "ear oil". It is usually a blend of olive oil and some herbs. Use as directed, but also use it to wet a cotton ball and pack it into your ear before you ride. Will keep the wind/cold out of your ear.
2. Find a product by Nature's Plus Inner Ear Support. It is a pro-biotic with flora (good bacteria) for your ear. Take these opposite times of your anti-biotic. While it is marketed as a kid's product, it can be used by adults as well. We've used it on my son at the first sign of an ear infection with great success. In addition, there are intestinal flora in this formula which will help you not feel like crap while taking your anti-biotics. Just don't take them at the same time as your anti-biotics, as the anti-biotics will kill the pro-biotics. Take the pro-biotics like 2 hours after you've taken your anti-biotics.
Good info thanks!
Been thinking there's got to be a way to keep the cold out of my ears.
I finally got a commuting routine going and I don't want to stop riding while this heals up...
