Anyone used an infrared device for recovery?

Have any of you used an infrared device to help heal from injuries or for sore muscles/aching joints? Alternately, have you been injured and received this treatment as a therapy modality? Thinking of getting something for home use to help with recovering from a total knee replacement, but just wanted some feedback before throwing out the $$. Looks like home units range from $80 to $200.

Sorry, I misread this -- have you already had a knee replacement and are still in pain?

    Advice for others

I had both knees replaced six years ago. I did them six weeks apart only because the scheduling person did not know what was involved. I still have much pain, thought to be nerves. Hence the spinal cord stimulator implant, which only gives me partial relief. I take lots of Codeine while riding.

I hope there is relief for this pain in the future for you, some way, some how. The important thing is you have an avenue for pain relief sufficient to still ride, even if you are somewhat limited in frequency.

Apologies for my ridiculously long-winded (but well intentioned) post, which I'll delete now; however, I must say it was very cathartic.

I work across the street from the football stadium at a major university. All of the Kinesiology offices and the athletic training complex are within the stadium; I may wander over and see if there are any trainers who might have some information on recovery and if infrared is a useful adjunct in healing.
