I'm glad my wife wasnt sitting next to me when I looked at those pics, she would never ride with me again! What a bummer to have that happen at the beginning of summer! The poor guy has to wait forever for that one to heal before riding again and it will be winter by then. Last time I saw a compound fracture it was a kids femur stcking through his pant leg after a minibike wreck, it was nasty!!!
OH, MAN! I looked at the photos and .. FREAKING HARSH!
- Swelling around weirdly bent bones (check)
- Bone poking out (check)
- Blood (check)
- X-rays that make you want to hurl (check)
Sending healing vibes your friend's way.
We had a guy go down about 1.5 years ago. It was the first time he rode with us and he crashed on a simple fire road descent near the end of the ride. Fortunately, he also crashed by a road which was close to a ranger station.
He's gonna need some serious drugs to get through that one! What a DRAG! I cant see how he's ever going to be the same, I hope his bones heal well!
Did they have to put any Ti parts in there to hold the bones together? I wish him luck! A.H
