I picked it up yesterday, fought with the Stan's on the WTB rims last night, finally made the necessary modifications and got the tubeless working today, and now I am going for a ride... I'll tell you about it later.

i love em so far,but i need a slightly longer stem than what i have to put em in the same relative location as the risers they replaced......that almost caused me to go over the bars in a tight switchback (it had absolutely nothing to do w/ the fact i almost overshot it by goin too fast ).

What Deore Mech brakes are they? Did they require any adapters to mount?

I've got a free set coming today for a temporary fix for my Flight 29er build. If I can get these to work, I'll be riding it this weekend.... otherwise the project will be on hold for another week.

I'll check when I get home. The brakes were on the bike when I got it. Yes it does have adapters front and rear.

Watch those Mary bars, my Mary clone Origin8 Space bar snapped in half on me last week resulting in a nasty spill. Origin8 is now redoing the bar in steel.

I got rid of mine after reading a bunch of those same stories... especially since I tip the scales at about 250 geared up. I liked them, but didn't want to risk it. I maybe put 100 miles on mine before the stories made me paranoid.

I've got a Surly torsion bar (4130 chromo) on the way. I figured it was time to give something different a try anyway.

Better than I expected! I'm use to BB7's and they don't seem to be much less than the avids.

    My flight 29er mocked up:

A blend of new and old parts... some spendy, some free.

All in all, I think it is going to be a badass ride. I hope to have it finshed by tomorrow at the latest.

    '08 MC Flight 29er
    King Headset
Xt hubs laced to dual duty rims
Stylos 1.1 crank set (not yet installed)
    Thomson set back seat post
    Titec hellbent stem
    Surly Torsion bar
Free Shimano Deore M515 mech discs
    Avid SD7 levers
    Brooks Saddle

Those Deore brakes weigh about a pound a piece... I'll order some BB7's before too long.

Yeah, I'm leaving about an inch more steerer than the shop left on my d440. Sunday can't get here quick enough.
