    Recommend a new crank?

I'm thinking of replacing my stock crankset with something a stronger and creak-free. I have a Shimano square-taper BB and would like to go with another crank with aquare tapers, however, I'm not adverse to switching to a whole new set-up. I'm thinking of spending less than $200. This is for a stock '09 'cog.

    What's everyone else running?

    Thanks !!

Go with the shimano XT crankset. They're $199 at performance bike and you can usually wait for them to take another 10% off. The XT cranks are bomb proof.

Thanks for the suggestion !! I've seen a few of the XTs on this site. There's someone selling some used XT cranks on my local craigslist. I sent 'em an email and am waiting to hear back. I'm also thinking about the Deore LX through Jenson. Do you know what the difference from the XT to the LX is -- besides weight and finish?

The LX are a little heavier and don't look as nice as the XT. Both are great cranks.

Good deal, then. Jenson's got the LXs on sale right now for $85. That's probably what I'll go with.

    Thanks !!

    Xt

I put a set set of xt 770's on and they are sweet. I had burned 2 stock sets in the last few months and hope these last quite a bit longer
