    2007 redline monocog SS

I know the the 2007 Green redline monocog flights had a frame cracking problem, but did the regular monocogs (brown ones) have frame cracking problems in 2007? I am thinking about buying a used one and wanted to check here first?? Thanks...

It was a friend of mine and yes he was just riding along. I believe him because the trails around here are about as tame as can be. There is a skills course with some 2 foot drops on the trail he is the steward for, but I don't think he was doing anything real rough with it.

Any more info on this? I'm probably going to buy a 07' model off of Craigslist by the weekend....unless it's confirmed that they break!

that fork looks like it has > 80 mm travel, which is what i believe monocogs are designed around. what fork was your friend running, shooter? all bikes break, though i've never heard of frequent failures with monocogs of any year while researching my purchase for a 2010 (unlike my IH MKIII, unfortunately).

Only the Flights had problems with frame cracks. That photo above is a very very rare case. I don't think I've heard of another Monocog breaking like that. Was he the original owner?

My 08 is stout as can be. I wouldn't worry about them breaking.

That's good to hear because I just came home with a 07' Monocog from my previous post. I am already in love with 29ers.

Is that picture real? You don't normally see a frame brake in the middle of a section of tubing like that, it's usually on a weld. I wouldn't base your purchase on a failure like that, real or not, these frames are built tough and if that is real it's a freak.
