This is not the what-should-I-buy forum.

This is not the "Hey, I just got into mountain biking!" forum.

This is not the general-mountain-biking-questions forum, or the newbie forum, or the internet deals forum.

This forum is for discussion of mountain bikes with 29er wheels. It's actually a pretty small subsection of the mountain bike world.

Mountain bikes with 29" wheels are now so prevalent that general or newbie questions that just happen to pertain to a 29er are directed here, causing a general din.

The General Discussion forum is here. The Beginner's Corner forum is here. The Internet Cheapskates forum is here.

My personal opinion is that you should not buy stuff based on what people say on a forum. They will only tell you to buy what they have already bought, or something very much like it. It enforces sheep-like behavior; following along blindly. And I also think that buying the absolute cheapest crap you can get is just that. Go to your local bike shop, ask riders on your local trail, talk to your bike rider friends. Spending money at your local shop is the key to good service and knowledge and a healthy riding community.

This forum has some interesting posts, but it also has a LOT of noise. Please think before posting here. Is it really about 29er mountain bikes?

    Thanks,

    Mr. Crankypants

I agree totally with the OP's noisy non-29er complaining about noisy non-29er posts in the otherwise tidy, always on-point world of online forums!

Use it, use it, use it while you still have it.

Harumph! It's about time somebody spoke up!

In keeping with the OP's premise:

If you want to talk about your last 29'er ride, go to the passion forum!
If you want to know what car you should use to haul your 29'er, go to the car forum!
If you want to know what wheels or tires you should get for your 29'er, go to the wheels and tires forum!
If you have problems with the fork or shock on your 29'er, go to the shocks and suspension forum!
If you want to discuss riding your 29'er on local trails, go to the regional forums!
If you want to discuss your particular 29'er bike, go to the manufacturers forum!
Confused about what to wear on your 29er? Apparel forum.
Are you a girl, or at least a non-traditional male, and you ride a 29'er? Women's lounge for you.
29'er racerboi? Endurance or XC racing forums!
Are you concerned what 29'er Jesus would ride? Political/religious forum.
Do you weigh 130 lbs dripping wet and you ride a 29'er? Weight weenies forum.
Do you like to build trails for your 29er? Trailbuilding.

Finally, are you a tool AND you ride a 29'er? Tooltime.

See, there is no reason whatsoever to even HAVE a 29'er forum. Francis, please delete this forum. It has been reduced to complete redundancy due to the ubiquitousness of the 29'er.

The 29er forum is dead. Long live the 29er forum.

This is not the general-mountain-biking-questions forum, or the newbie forum, or the internet deals forum.

This forum is for the rejected fruitcake threads and discussion of incoherent, disjointed ramblings.

My personal opinion is irrelevant because I'm crazy, or something very much like it.

    Thanks,

    Mr. Crankypants
    Fixed it for you!

My LBS will only recommend the bikes he carries.

Which one? The spandex hammerhead on the 21 lb HT, the DHer dialing in his Fox 40, or the trail salmon leading his GF the wrong way?

My friends don't ride, and that's fine by me.

You sound like the type that goes about his day judging how everyone else should go about theirs. Not a good place to be. This site seems to have decent admins. 'Nuff said.
